The Lead Cashier (LC) position at Ulta Beauty plays a critical role in ensuring the seamless and efficient processing of guest transactions while maintaining high standards of cashwrap cleanliness and aesthetics. This role is pivotal in enhancing the guest experience by driving loyalty programs, credit sales, and contributing towards the store’s overall sales and shrinkage goals. The LC acts as a leader within the team, assisting in the training of new cashiers and cross-training other associates, while also supporting daily operations such as register functions, associate exit inspections, and cashier chat in/outs. A successful Lead Cashier is proactive, demonstrating the ability to collaborate, lead, and influence peers effectively to achieve peak performance.

This role demands a passion for exceptional guest service and process excellence, emphasizing personalized interactions at the cashwrap and ensuring that every guest feels valued and engaged. The LC also helps promote and explains Ulta Beauty's Loyalty Life Cycle to maximize credit and loyalty program participation. Additionally, the Lead Cashier supports maintaining store standards, policies, and procedures, ensuring compliance and protecting company assets through loss prevention and operational diligence.

Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to continuously move throughout the store during shifts including bending, twisting, crouching, reaching
  • Capability to lift or move up to 25 pounds frequently
  • High school diploma preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years relevant work experience or equivalent combination
  • Proficient with Point of Sale technology
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and adapt to changes
  • Must comply with Ulta Beauty dress code and company policies
  • Strong commitment to guest service and operational excellence

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Proven ability to delegate tasks, multitask, and problem-solve

Job Duties

  • Contribute to meeting or exceeding store sales, service, loyalty, and shrink goals
  • Ensure exceptional guest service at the cashwrap including greeting, engaging and personalizing service to guest needs
  • Handle sales, refunds, and exchanges courteously
  • Assist with booking appointments and supporting in-store events and services
  • Maintain and organize cashwrap displays, supplies, and surrounding areas to ensure guest readiness
  • Train new cashiers and cross-train associates in cashiering functions
  • Support leadership with register open and close functions, cashier chat in/outs, and associate exit inspections
