The Lead Cashier (LC) position at Ulta Beauty is a pivotal role focused on ensuring efficient and exceptional guest transactions while upholding the highest standards of the cashwrap area, including cleanliness and aesthetics. This role demands a proactive leader who can train new cashiers, cross-train associates, and collaborate effectively with peers. The LC drives store goals through a clear focus on sales performance, guest experience, loyalty programs, and operational processes. With responsibilities that include supporting opening and closing register functions, conducting associate exit inspections, and managing cashier chat in/outs, this role is essential to both operational excellence and guest satisfaction.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma preferred
  • Minimum two years of relevant work experience or equivalent combination
  • Ability to work flexible schedules including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Ability to perform physical requirements including lifting up to 25 pounds
  • Continuous mobility within store during shifts
  • Must adhere to company dress code
  • Keen attention to detail in cash handling and compliance
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Ability to engage and influence peers effectively

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma preferred
  • Two years of relevant work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Proven ability to delegate, multi-task, and problem-solve
  • Demonstrated passion for guest service and sales competency
  • Experience addressing guest concerns professionally
  • Proven track record in exceeding sales goals
  • Skilled in training new hires
  • Proficient with Point of Sale systems and Apple devices
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to remain flexible and use good judgment

Job Duties

  • Contribute to meeting or exceeding retail and service sales goals
  • Ensure exceptional guest service through personalized engagement and product recommendations
  • Handle sales transactions, refunds, and exchanges courteously
  • Support and book appointments for in-store services and events
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of cashwrap displays and supplies
  • Assist in the training and cross-training of cashiers and associates
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and complete cash handling procedures
