The Lead Cashier role is a pivotal position within Ulta Beauty's retail framework, focusing primarily on the efficiency of guest transactions and upholding high standards at the cashwrap, which includes cleanliness and visual appeal. This role requires proficiency in cashiering and a strong capacity to assist in training new cashiers and cross-training other associates, demonstrating leadership through proactive collaboration and peer influence. The Lead Cashier plays a critical role in driving key performance indicators including sales, guest loyalty, and operational compliance.

Employees in this role are expected to champion Ulta Beauty’s values by delivering exceptional guest service experiences, supporting the achievement of store goals related to retail and service sales, omni-channel initiatives, and credit programs. The position involves managing cash wrap aesthetics, handling transactions efficiently, and promoting the Ulta Beauty Loyalty Life Cycle to engage guests effectively. Additionally, the Lead Cashier supports leadership in managing cash register operations during open and close shifts and participates in associate exit inspections.

This role requires strong interpersonal and communication skills, the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and a passion for both guest experiences and process excellence. The position demands flexibility with scheduling, including working various shifts, weekends, and holidays. The compensation for the Lead Cashier ranges from $15.50 to $21.00 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience. Job Requirements

  • Work a flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Ability to lift and move up to 25 lbs
  • Continuous mobility and frequent bending, pulling, pushing, crouching, stooping, twisting, and reaching during shift
  • Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma preferred
  • 2 years of relevant work experience or equivalent combination preferred
  • Proven ability to delegate, multi-task, and problem-solve
  • Demonstrated knowledge and passion for guest service
  • Competency in selling and exceeding sales goals
  • Experience addressing guest concerns professionally
  • Proficient with Point of Sale systems and Apple devices
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships
  • Flexible and adaptable under pressure

Job Duties

  • Contribute to meeting or exceeding store goals related to retail and service sales, omni-channel, guest loyalty, and retail shrink
  • Ensure each guest receives exceptional service through a guest-friendly environment, greeting, engaging and personalizing service
  • Courteously handle sales, refunds, and exchanges
  • Book appointments and support in-store events that drive sales and guest experience
  • Maintain replenishment, organization, and upkeep of all cashwrap displays and supplies
  • Support leadership with register open and close functions, cashier chat ins and chat outs, and associate exit inspections
  • Assist in training new cashiers and cross-training other associates
