Job Description
Harmons is a well-established supermarket chain known for its commitment to high-quality fresh food products and exceptional customer service. With a strong presence in the community, Harmons has earned a reputation for offering a wide variety of fresh bakery goods, produce, meat, and specialty items. The company prioritizes quality, freshness, and customer satisfaction, making it a favored shopping destination for families and individuals who appreciate premium grocery options in a welcoming store environment.
This role is within Harmons' bakery department, a vital segment dedicated to producing and maintaining high standards for their pastry and cake products. The position involves hands-on work preparing, cooking, mixing, baking, assembling, packaging, labeling, and decorating a broad array of cakes and pastries that meet the company’s quality benchmarks. Moreover, this role includes training and mentoring other pastry and cake associates to ensure consistent quality and efficiency across shifts. Employees in this role will also be responsible for ordering, receiving, and storing bakery products while managing inventory levels to avoid waste and guarantee product availability.
The position pays between $17.64 and $21.00 per hour and requires open availability, especially on weekends and holidays, underscoring the dynamic nature of the retail bakery environment. The successful candidate must be dedicated to maintaining quality assurance processes, adhering closely to established store policies, and maintaining a spotless, sanitized bakery area that meets company appearance standards.
In addition to baking and decorating duties, this role demands sharp organizational skills to maintain inventory and product pricing accuracy. The role includes responsibilities such as writing production sheets, scheduling associates, assisting with inventory tests, and providing honest feedback to the baking team to foster continuous improvement. Exceptional customer service skills are essential as the bakery team regularly interacts with customers and store associates, helping maintain the warm and professional atmosphere Harmons is known for.
This position also requires a strong knowledge of food safety, including possession of a current Food Handler's Permit. Candidates must be comfortable following detailed recipes, performing basic math related to batch sizes, and handling ingredients with care to minimize waste. A successful candidate demonstrates integrity, a positive attitude, mission-driven dedication, self-motivation, and the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
Physically, the role is demanding, involving frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting of up to 50 pounds. It requires good manual dexterity and coordination, with the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced bakery environment. The company strongly promotes equal opportunity and celebrates diversity among its workforce, welcoming applications from all qualified candidates. This role offers a rewarding opportunity for a passionate bakery professional to contribute meaningfully to a company that values high standards, teamwork, and community engagement.
