Job Description

Artechouse is a groundbreaking immersive art space renowned for its cutting-edge technology-based exhibits and innovative experiences, including the world’s first augmented reality cocktails. With physical locations in Houston and New York City, Artechouse is dedicated to pushing the boundaries of art, science, and technology by collaborating with some of the world’s most visionary artists. By creating immersive and experiential large-scale installations and exhibitions, Artechouse captivates and educates a global audience, empowering artists and showcasing new mediums that merge technology and creativity.

As Artechouse reopens its Washington DC location, we are excited to offer a full-time Lead Bartender position. This role is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced bartender with management aspirations or experience to join a passionate and creative team. The Lead Bartender will work directly with the location leader and bar management to oversee bar operations, manage shifts, and ensure high standards of service and procedure are consistently met. This is a crucial role that combines hands-on bartending with leadership responsibilities to maintain the integrity and quality of the bar experience within an innovative and dynamic environment.

The ideal candidate will have over three years of bartending experience and at least one year of management experience in a full-service bar setting. A deep knowledge of craft cocktail procedures and excellent customer service skills are essential. The Lead Bartender will be accountable for supervising fellow bartenders, maintaining cleanliness and organization, managing inventory for spirits, wine, beer, and supplies, and ensuring the bar setup aligns with established standards. Additionally, this role requires the ability to review and communicate the daily exhibit schedule to the bartending team, hold the team accountable to bar and gallery procedures, and be responsible for closing the bar and the space each night.

This position also demands physical stamina, including the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work flexible hours, with shifts that can extend until midnight, five nights a week. Candidates must be based in or able to commute to Washington DC. A Food Manager’s license or the ability to obtain one and the capacity to pass a background check are required. Basic Excel skills will aid in inventory management and other administrative tasks.

Working at Artechouse means being part of a growing team of creatives and innovators who value ambition, execution, and the transformative power of art, science, and technology. We pride ourselves on fostering an inclusive and collaborative environment where groundbreaking ideas are welcomed and celebrated. Employees benefit from a competitive health, dental, and vision insurance package for themselves and their dependents, and the chance to work alongside passionate co-workers committed to inspiring the next generation of genre-pushing artists.

At Artechouse, diversity and inclusivity are foundational values. We are an equal opportunity employer committed to creating an environment free of discrimination based on race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability. Join us in a role that bridges hospitality with innovative art experiences, and help bring our immersive, technologically enhanced vision to life for visitors in Washington DC.
