This current opportunity is for an experienced Food and Beverage (F&B) Supervisor to lead the Kitchen + Bar (K+B) team at the Drury Hotels property located at 5175 28th Street SE, Grand Rapids, Michigan 49512. This is a part-time or full-time hourly wage position paying $16 per hour, with additional income potential through tips. The F&B Supervisor will work under general supervision to open and close the Kitchen + Bar according to company policies and procedures. The primary mission will focus on maintaining a clean, organized food preparation and bar area while ensuring guests receive excellent service and assistance. The supervisor will need to have a good understanding of the hotel's operations, local area, and current events to effectively answer guest inquiries and support the overall guest experience.

The supervisor will also take on responsibilities across various roles such as bartender, prep cook, and cocktail server when necessary, ensuring smooth operations during peak and off-peak hours. The F&B Supervisor must possess excellent communication skills, critical thinking abilities, and customer service expertise to resolve issues diplomatically and maintain a positive atmosphere.

Job Requirements

  • Must be 21 years old or older
  • Experience bartending for at least one year
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Ability to communicate in English effectively both written and verbal
  • Ability to mix and serve various drinks quickly
  • Possess or be able to obtain all necessary certifications per company requirements
  • Ability to handle money and make appropriate change
  • Ability to operate cash registers, POS systems, dishwashers, and kitchen equipment
  • Ability to open and close the bar and ensure all supplies are stocked
  • Ability to interact professionally with customers and team members during challenging situations
  • Ability to distinguish between currency denominations and make correct change

Job Qualifications

  • Must be 21 years old or older
  • One year experience bartending required
  • Two or more years of bartender and supervisory experience preferred
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Completion of two years of college preferred
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to mix and serve a wide variety of drinks in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to diplomatically handle difficult situations and people while maintaining professionalism

Job Duties

  • Open and close the Kitchen and Bar following company policies and procedures
  • Maintain the food prep and hotel bar area in a clean and well-organized manner
  • Serve and assist guests with a high standard of integrity, service, and hospitality
  • Answer guest questions about the hotel, local area, and events
  • Perform duties as bartender, prep cook, and cocktail server as needed
  • Obtain and maintain all necessary certifications as required
  • Handle money, make change, and utilize office machines including POS software and cash register
