Sheraton Hotels & Resorts has been a meeting place for people around the world since 1937, creating meaningful connections and memorable moments through attentive service and engaging experiences.
This particular role is located at the Sheraton property on 500 Canal Street in New Orleans, Louisiana. The position is a full-time, non-management role within the Food and Beverage & Culinary category, offering an hourly wage of $15.00. It requires dedication to supporting the team and enhancing the overall guest experience by efficiently managing beverage services, including wine and champagne service. The role is essential in maintaining the quality standards of the establishment’s drink offerings and supporting overall operations through inventory management and team coordination.
As a non-management beverage service team member, the individual will be responsible for addressing guest inquiries about the origin, harvest, and style of various wines, ensuring all stock and provisions are checked for quantity and quality, and requesting necessary supplies. They will also be tasked with restocking alcoholic beverages bottle by bottle, communicating last call during designated closing hours, and preparing drink orders based on specific recipes using precise measurement systems. Additionally, the role involves opening, serving, and delivering bottles of wine and champagne to guests.
The position requires careful handling of financial transactions, including computing the cash register at the end of shifts, completing cashier reports, resolving discrepancies, delivering receipts, and securing the cash box. The role also includes maintaining security over liquors, beers, wines, refrigerators, cabinets, and storage areas, anticipating restocking needs, and promptly communicating these to the management or relevant teams. Teamwork is emphasized, with an expectation to assist management in hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, coaching, disciplining, motivating, and mentoring employees. Serving as an exemplary team member and ensuring adherence to the company’s policies and procedures, especially those related to safety and appearance, is also critical.
Physical demands involve the ability to move, lift, transport items up to 50 pounds, and perform various physical activities such as standing, sitting, walking for prolonged periods, bending, twisting, and navigating narrow or uneven spaces. Excellent communication skills are essential, requiring clear and professional verbal interaction with guests and colleagues, as well as the use of telephone etiquette. Attention to detail and the ability to work within a team-oriented environment to meet established quality standards underscore the importance of this role.
