Job Requirements
- Passion for the people, place and culture of the community
- Minimum two years experience as a bartender
- TiPS Alcohol service certification or ability to obtain within 30 days
- Must meet local age requirements to serve alcohol
- Available to work flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays
- Fluency in English both verbally and non-verbally
- Continuous standing and walking
- Fine motor coordination
- Ability to lift and carry up to 30 lbs occasionally
- Ability to negotiate varied floor surfaces
- Ability to work in extreme temperatures
- Ability to lift and carry (with assistance) up to 100 lbs
- Ability to handle lighted candles and hot fluids
- Excellent sight and balance for floor navigation
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Job Qualifications
- Minimum of two years experience as a bartender in a free-standing or hotel restaurant or bar
- TiPS Alcohol service certification and SafeStaff Certificate of Completion or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire
- Must meet local age requirements to serve alcohol
- Fluency in English both verbally and non-verbally
- Passion for community culture and guest service
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proven ability to lead and mentor a bar team
- Knowledge of advanced bartending techniques and beverage trends
- Ability to collaborate effectively with culinary and service teams
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills
- Knowledge of alcohol safety, legal compliance, and responsible service.
Job Duties
- Lead by example, setting the tone for impeccable service, professionalism, and efficiency
- Be an ambassador of the Jasper Hotel, sharing stories behind cocktails, ingredients, and local culture
- Provide knowledgeable recommendations to guests on cocktails, spirits, and wine pairings
- Ensure safe, responsible, and legal alcohol service maintaining compliance with regulations
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient workspace treating the bar as a stage for guest experience
- Assist in creation of seasonal cocktail menus and update bartending binders with product information and recipes
- Facilitate ongoing staff training on beer, wine, and spirits
- Batch cocktails and house-made ingredients ensuring consistency, efficiency, and quality
- Work closely with food and beverage and culinary teams for seamless service
- Ensure bar products and storage areas are well-stocked and organized
- Monitor guest requests and provide feedback on trends
- Communicate bar needs to the Bar Manager
- Maintain and update bar checklists including opening and closing procedures
- Prepare end-of-night checklists, reports, and sign out associates in manager's absence
- Follow FIFO and dating procedures for product storage
- Train, mentor, and support bartenders and barbacks
- Participate in staff meetings with insights and strategies
- Prepare and serve beverages efficiently and professionally
- Carry trays, bus, and reset tables as needed
- Communicate maintenance issues
- Support other food and beverage areas including banquets, in-room dining, cafe, and restaurant operations
- Uphold company principles by fostering pride in the community and guest service
- Work within the hotel's smoke-free, drug-free, and equal opportunity policies.
