The company is currently seeking a Lead Barista for their flagship café location in New York City. This part-time role, offering a competitive wage of $21.00 per hour, presents an exciting opportunity for those interested in leading a team within a lively hospitality environment focused on achieving outstanding guest service. The Lead Barista will serve a critical role as the front-line supervisor responsible for the oversight, training, and development of the café's retail staff. The individual will act as the Leader on Duty (LOD) for the café, requiring them to demonstrate strong leadership skills and an ability to work collaboratively with their team to deliver goal-oriented results.
In this supervisory capacity, the Lead Barista will manage daily café operations, ensuring that company standards and policies related to food and beverage service are consistently met. They will be responsible for training new and current team members to uphold world-class service standards, while fostering a positive and engaging work culture centered on teamwork and customer satisfaction. Part of their duties includes implementing operational procedures, assessing team effectiveness, managing inventory levels, and supporting personnel development and disciplinary actions as needed.
The ideal candidate will possess a NYC Food Handler’s Certificate, the ability to stand for extended periods, and the physical capability to handle inventory tasks requiring moderate lifting. A flexible schedule is necessary, including availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays. This role demands someone organized, detail-oriented, with excellent multitasking and problem-solving skills, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment. Previous experience in food and beverage service, particularly in café or barista settings, along with supervisory experience, is highly valued.

Job Requirements
- must possess nyc food handler's certificate
- must be able to remain in a standing, stationary position more than 75% of the time
- must be able to work a minimum of three shifts, one of which must be a weekend day
- must be able to frequently move food service inventory and equipment weighing up to 25 pounds
- must be able to move about inside the retail coffee shop space
- must be able to work under pressure and in a fast paced environment
- must be able to work a variable schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays
Job Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in food and beverage service/industry
- previous café/barista experience a plus
- high school diploma (or its equivalent), some college is preferred (current students welcome to apply)
- one year of supervisory or management experience
Job Duties
- provide leadership and sound judgment to the café services team to the benefit of the company
- implement operations policies, processes, procedures, and standards as it relates to the café and overall food/beverage department
- train and develop a world-class retail café operations team
- actively participate in defining the team culture and incorporating it into the café operations
- assist in establishing basic personnel standards for the café and overall food/beverage department
- be part of the LOD (leader on duty) retail café rotation
- assess the effectiveness of the team, providing feedback to management, and enforcing disciplinary actions as outlined in the employee handbook and training
- oversee inventory levels
- notify upper management of re-order needs to ensure smooth operation
- additional duties as assigned
