The Lead Barista position available at the Genentech location (350 DNA Way, South San Francisco, CA) is a full-time role scheduled Monday through Friday from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM. This role is pivotal in delivering exceptional coffee and espresso beverages while leading the barista team to uphold high standards of quality and service. In this role, the Lead Barista will be responsible for preparing coffee and espresso drinks according to standardized recipes and portion controls, ensuring that food and beverage items meet HACCP safety and cleanliness standards. The role demands effective use of point-of-sale systems for order accuracy and payment processing, replenishment of supplies, and maintaining inviting cleanliness and order in the service area. As a customer-facing position, the Lead Barista must engage warmly and professionally with patrons, effectively communicate menu details, and quickly resolve any concerns by liaising with management. The position also involves mentoring and coordinating barista team members to maintain smooth operations and enhance customer satisfaction.

Job Requirements

  • Previous lead barista experience
  • ability to work full time Monday through Friday from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM
  • ability to handle food according to HACCP guidelines
  • ability to operate POS devices
  • ability to communicate effectively with customers and team members

Job Duties

  • Prepare espresso orders for customers and catering using standard measures and recipes
  • enter orders accurately into POS device
  • accept cash and charge payments
  • replenish condiments, beverages and general supplies while maintaining cleanliness of service area
  • ensure proper presentation, portion control and maintenance of proper serving temperatures
  • maintain sanitation and orderliness of all equipment, supplies and utensils
  • greet customers courteously and interact in a manner to ensure customer satisfaction
