The café is part of Appellation Hotels’ collection, which embodies a philosophy that marries culinary artistry with exceptional hospitality. We are currently seeking a Lead Barista to join the Maison Lodi team. This is a dynamic role ideally suited for an energetic, service-driven individual who thrives in fast-paced café environments and enjoys mentoring and inspiring a team. The Lead Barista will play a vital role in daily operations, helping to maintain high standards of customer service and product quality, while supporting the development of baristas and cashiers. This position averages 30 hours per week and is accompanied by a competitive hourly wage of $18.40 plus gratuity, along with medical benefits and other valuable perks. The Lead Barista will be instrumental in ensuring that each guest’s experience is warm, engaging, and memorable by consistently delivering impeccable service and handcrafted beverages that meet Maison Lodi’s exacting standards. Key responsibilities include leading through example, assisting with training, maintaining cleanliness and organization, and contributing to smooth shifts during busy periods. Job Requirements

  • Previous café, coffee shop, or hospitality leadership experience preferred
  • Strong communication and guest service skills
  • Positive attitude with the ability to stay calm under pressure
  • Team-oriented mindset and willingness to support wherever needed
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays
  • Ability to see with close vision, have depth perception and adjust focus to small numbers and words
  • Enter data into a computer terminal, operate standard office equipment, and use telephone
  • Ten key/typing proficient
  • See and read a computer screen and printed matter with or without vision aids
  • Hear and understand speech at normal levels and on the telephone
  • Work in hot and cold outdoor conditions
  • Be able to handle stress and have the mental capacity to do so under stressful times and situations
  • Constant walking, standing and repetitive use of hands, arms, and legs
  • Frequent bending and bending of neck, grasping, pushing, pulling, and reaching below, above and at shoulder level, lifting of chairs and tables for reset of rooms
  • Occasional twisting of neck, power grasping, climbing stairs while carrying trays and products
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds, bend, stoop, and reach
  • Lift and carry equipment and supplies
  • Constantly walk and stand for long periods up to 4 hours
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Walking over uneven ground and up and down stairs to service guests with or without reasonable accommodation

Job Duties

  • Play a key role in setting the tone for each shift by leading through example and supporting both guests and team members
  • Deliver warm, engaging, and attentive guest service
  • Lead and support barista and cashier team members during service
  • Prepare handcrafted beverages and food items to Maison Lodi standards
  • Jump into barista, cashier, and food build roles as needed
  • Assist with training and coaching new team members
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and food safety standards
  • Support café opening and closing procedures
  • Help ensure smooth operations during high-volume shifts
  • Promote menu items and provide knowledgeable recommendations to guests
