The role of Lead Mixer at Aspire Bakeries' Van Nuys, CA bakery is a critical position responsible for supporting daily mixing operations to ensure efficient bakery production. The Lead Mixer coordinates and oversees the activities in the mixing department, ensuring that production schedules are consistently met while maintaining the quality standards of the dough. This role demands attention to detail in managing dough batches to meet specific time, temperature, and quality specifications. The Lead Mixer also leads and directs the work of mixing team members, fostering efficiency and accountability within the team. Monitoring ingredient availability, starter levels, and ensuring adherence to FIFO inventory practices is an integral part of the job.

A Lead Mixer at Aspire Bakeries ensures accurate, timely, and compliant production and quality documentation, while actively promoting a safe, sanitary, and well-organized work environment in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs). The shift for this full-time role is the first shift, running from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM, and weekend availability is required. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 1-3 months of related manufacturing or food production experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • ability to perform basic math calculations including percentages
  • ability to communicate clearly in English both verbally and in writing
  • ability to operate and understand mixing equipment and process controls
  • ability to lift up to 50 lbs and move wheeled mixing bowls up to approximately 1,000 lbs
  • ability to work in a fast-paced environment while meeting quality and safety standards

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 1-3 months of related manufacturing or food production experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • ability to perform basic math calculations including percentages
  • ability to communicate clearly in English both verbally and in writing
  • ability to operate and understand mixing equipment and process controls
  • ability to lift up to 50 lbs and move wheeled mixing bowls up to approximately 1,000 lbs
  • ability to work in a fast-paced environment while meeting quality and safety standards
  • prior bakery or food manufacturing experience preferred
  • experience leading or training team members in a production environment preferred
  • knowledge of GMPs and Lockout/Tagout procedures preferred
  • familiarity with dough mixing, scaling, and temperature controls preferred
  • strong problem-solving and proactive decision-making skills preferred
