The Lead Baker position, located at Getty Villa in Malibu, CA, is a full-time role offering a pay rate of $24.72 per hour. This role is critical within the culinary operations, requiring a skilled leader who can manage the baking process and production team effectively. The Lead Baker is responsible for preparing a wide range of baked goods, including breads, pies, cakes, cookies, and other pastries, following precise recipes and production specifications. This role not only demands technical baking expertise but also strong supervisory skills to ensure efficiency, quality, and food safety compliance are maintained. The Lead Baker must have open availability, particularly on weekends, holidays, and special event dates, to meet the demands of the operation.

In addition to baking, the Lead Baker assists in production planning, inventory management, and maintaining exceptional standards for food presentation and sanitation. This position requires the ability to remain calm and efficient under peak production pressures, handle customer interactions professionally, and ensure compliance with corporate and OSHA safety regulations. Job Requirements

  • Three years of previous baking commercial work and supervisory experience
  • open availability including Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, Holidays, and special events
  • ability to perform essential functions of the position satisfactorily with or without reasonable accommodation
  • compliance with corporate and OSHA safety standards
  • ability to maintain proper sanitation and food safety practices

Job Qualifications

  • Three years of previous baking commercial work experience
  • prior supervisory or lead experience in baking or culinary production
  • knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
  • ability to follow production specifications and recipes accurately

Job Duties

  • Bake breads, pies, cakes, cookies and other pastries as necessary per the provided production and catering sheets
  • assists in production planning to meet daily requirements
  • ensures proper food preparation by utilizing approved recipes, following prescribed production standards and use of proper equipment
  • assists with the completion of production records to include waste tracking, used/unused portions and product shortages
  • informs supervisor when supplies are low
  • ensures proper presentation, food quality, portion control and maintenance of proper serving temperatures
  • maintains sanitation and orderliness of all equipment, supplies and utensils within work area
  • handles food items appropriately and with all safety regulations in mind during preparation and service
  • cleans equipment and workstation thoroughly before leaving the area for other assignments
  • keeps display equipment clean and free of debris
  • interacts with customers and resolves customer complaints in a friendly and customer-service oriented manner
  • relays relevant concerns from customers directly to supervisors
  • consistently exhibits the ability to keep up with peak production and service calmly, accurately and efficiently
  • checks to ensure that all food is presented, served and displayed per standards
  • follows principles of sanitation and safety in handling food and equipment, ensuring corporate and OSHA safety standards are followed
  • completes shift work, as assigned, in a timely and thorough manner in accordance with department standards
  • performs other duties as assigned
