Job Description

Our establishment is a well-regarded bakery known for its dedication to high quality and consistency in baked goods. We pride ourselves on creating baked products that delight our customers while maintaining stringent hygiene and operational efficiency standards. Operating as a dynamic bakery environment, we serve both walk-in customers and wholesale clients, encompassing seasonal markets and special product orders. Our bakery is committed to continuous improvement and growth, providing a collaborative, innovative workplace for passionate bakery professionals. We emphasize not only excellent baking skills but also the importance of team collaboration and a detail-oriented approach to every aspect of kitchen operations.

We are currently seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Baker I to join our kitchen operations team. This position is essential to maintaining product consistency, organization, and operational efficiency across production and service areas. The Baker I role involves daily preparation, shaping, and baking of laminated pastries, dough production including mixing, lamination, proofing, and baking, as well as preparing various fillings like mooncake bean paste and both savory and sweet bun fillings. The Baker I will assist in managing production flow and staff within the kitchen, contributing towards eventual leadership responsibilities including overseeing seasonal and holiday bakery product preparation and quality assurance.

The position is part-time with working hours from Monday to Wednesday, 9am to 5pm, guaranteeing a minimum of 24 work hours per week with opportunities for more hours as the business expands. The role also requires some weekend morning bake offs to meet demand spikes. The Baker I will be responsible for monitoring inventory levels, organizing storage areas in compliance with FIFO (First In First Out) practices and proper labeling, maintaining a clean and sanitized workstation, following food safety and Serv-Safe standards, and adhering to production schedules and prep lists.

In addition to operational duties, the Baker I role provides opportunities for product development collaboration with the CEO through recipe testing and innovation. This position demands excellent baking skills, knowledge of baking techniques, ingredients, and equipment, as well as the physical capability to perform demanding tasks such as standing for long periods and lifting heavy items. The ideal candidate will be creative, detail-oriented, capable of efficient work in a fast-paced environment, and possess strong communication skills to ensure smooth coordination within the team.

This position offers an hourly wage of $23 per hour with opportunities for advancement and professional development. Benefits include sick time accrual based on hours worked, and potential growth pathways within the bakery operations. If you have at least five years of proven experience as a baker in a production or professional kitchen setting, hold your Serv-Safe Food Handler certification, and are eager to contribute to a vibrant bakery with a commitment to quality and innovation, we welcome your application.
