The Cook position at Vail Resorts is a vital role within the culinary team and represents an opportunity to be part of an organization where service excellence is foundational. This seasonal, full-time role offers a competitive wage range of $22.00 to $29.22 per hour and covers the Winter 2026/2027 season, with housing availability provided to support team members relocating or staying on-site. The Cook collaborates closely with the Chef and the broader kitchen staff to maintain high standards of food quality, safety, and sanitation, ensuring guests enjoy exceptional dining experiences. Responsibilities include mastering the use of kitchen equipment and tools, adhering to cleanliness and safety protocols, maintaining ingredient inventories with a focus on minimizing waste, and supporting the teamwork and flow within the kitchen. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of cooking techniques, preferably backed by culinary education or certification, and experience in a fast-paced kitchen environment. Physical stamina and the ability to work efficiently under pressure, while communicating well with colleagues, are essential for success in this role. Job Requirements

  • At least 18 years of age
  • Ability to stand and walk continuously for extended periods of time
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs
  • Ability to work well and communicate with others in a fast-paced environment under pressure
  • Must be able to communicate fluently in English

Job Qualifications

  • Culinary degree or certification preferred
  • 1-2 years of relevant work experience
  • supervisory kitchen experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of cooking techniques, practices and food safety
  • ServSafe certifications a plus
  • Ability to work well and communicate with others in a fast-paced environment under pressure
  • Must be able to communicate fluently in English

Job Duties

  • Understand the use and operation of kitchen equipment, tools and accessories for use and to train other kitchen staff
  • Adhere to and enforce applicable standards for facility and food preparation, cleanliness, and sanitation to ensure a high-quality work environment and guest experience
  • Maintain knowledge of current menu items and their ingredients
  • Prep ingredients and maintain par levels for demand to minimize waste
  • Maintain inventory of ingredients using a first in first out method and monitor food waste for reporting
  • Other duties as assigned
