Job Description

The New Orleans Teacher Job Board is a dedicated platform committed to connecting qualified educators with early care and education centers throughout the vibrant city of New Orleans. Focused on delivering exceptional early learning experiences, this organization supports the development and nurturing of the city's youngest learners by providing access to passionate and skilled teachers. The New Orleans Teacher Job Board serves as a crucial link between early childhood education centers and talented educators, emphasizing the importance of high-quality education from birth through four years of age. This initiative is pivotal for fostering a strong foundation in children, nurturing their growth cognitively, socially, emotionally, and physically, and ensuring that New Orleans continues to build a brighter, more educated future generation.

Currently, the board is seeking enthusiastic and qualified Birth-to-Four Lead Teachers and Assistant Teachers to become part of this dynamic network. These full-time positions offer competitive pay ranging from $12 to $18 an hour, based on the position and specific childcare center. The roles provide an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the community by cultivating young children's curiosity and love for learning. Lead Teachers play a vital role in coordinating and implementing educational curricula using developmentally appropriate practices aligned with early learning standards. They are responsible for managing classroom environments, supporting emotional and behavioral growth, supervising assistant teachers and volunteers, and maintaining strong communication channels with parents. Assistant Teachers complement these efforts by actively engaging children in curriculum activities, assisting with classroom management, and supporting smooth daily transitions for children from home to school.

Both roles require a genuine commitment to fostering a positive and encouraging learning space where children feel supported and motivated. Teachers will be involved in ongoing child assessments and developmental screenings to ensure every child's needs are met while adhering strictly to center policies and state regulations. Beyond daily teaching responsibilities, these positions offer opportunities for personal professional development through participation in the Louisiana Pathways Career Development System, tuition reimbursement, and professional development assistance. The New Orleans Teacher Job Board emphasizes a collaborative team environment where educators work closely with colleagues, parents, and the community to provide the best care and education possible.

Benefits for these positions are comprehensive and designed to support teachers in their professional and personal lives. They include health insurance, dental and vision coverage, life insurance, flexible spending accounts, paid time off, a flexible schedule, and participation in a 401(k) retirement plan. Teachers who achieve Level 1 Staff or higher and work in eligible Type III centers for the requisite hours annually are also eligible for additional financial incentives ranging from $1,894 to $3,787 per year, demonstrating the organization’s investment in rewarding dedication and quality teaching.

By joining the New Orleans Teacher Job Board as a Birth-to-Four Lead or Assistant Teacher, educators have a unique opportunity to shape the earliest stages of childhood development in a supportive and vibrant city. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about early childhood education, dedicated to making a difference, and eager to grow professionally while impacting the community positively. Working in person within the early care centers around New Orleans, these educators contribute to an essential mission — to empower children with skills and knowledge that will serve them throughout their educational journey and beyond.
