Currently, Aero Air is inviting qualified applicants for the position of Lead Aircraft and Powerplant (A&P) Mechanic at their Hillsboro, Oregon location. The role of the Lead A&P Mechanic is critical in ensuring the safety, quality, and reliability of aircraft operations. This key leadership position involves performing routine aircraft troubleshooting, inspections, repairs, and preventive maintenance adhering strictly to safety standards and regulatory compliance. The Lead Mechanic will oversee a team of other A&P mechanics and maintenance technicians, managing their daily work activities to meet company operational goals efficiently and effectively. The role is also responsible for maintaining all aircraft maintenance documentation in strict alignment with applicable Federal Aviation Regulations, company policies, and manufacturer requirements.

This position demands a proactive leader who is not only skilled in aircraft maintenance but also excels in team management and communication. The Lead A&P Mechanic will estimate labor hours required for repairs and inspections, ensure the maintenance area is organized and professional, and actively collaborate with maintenance supervisors and service center managers to promote safety, manage workflow, and ensure timely project completion. They will provide valuable feedback on team members' performance for reviews and foster a culture of safe operating habits and awareness around hazards, including chemical exposure risks. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent work experience
  • 3-5 years of experience as an A&P mechanic
  • demonstrated leadership capabilities and experience
  • successful completion of pre-employment drug screen and criminal history background check
  • maintain valid US/State issued driver's license with clean driving record
  • ability to perform physical tasks associated with maintenance work including lifting weights of up to 80 pounds with assistance
  • ability to read, hear, talk, stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, and climb
  • ability to wear and utilize personal protective equipment
  • willingness to work in both indoor hangar and outdoor environments with exposure to noise, fumes, and chemical hazards

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Perform efficient troubleshooting, aircraft maintenance and repairs in accordance with applicable regulations, manufacturer's instructions, and company policies
  • Correct compliance or safety issues with aircraft and advise appropriate personnel of maintenance issues preventing safe operation
  • Estimate projected labor-hours for individual repairs and inspections
  • Ensure consistent, accurate, verifiable aircraft maintenance records are maintained
  • Read and interpret manufacturers and airlines maintenance manuals, service bulletins, and other specifications
  • Operate all tools and equipment necessary to accomplish job assignments
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work area
  • Lead the work of a small group of aircraft maintenance personnel including training, development, and performance reviews
  • Provide feedback to Maintenance Supervisor or Service Center Manager regarding assigned team members' performance
  • Coordinate with Maintenance Supervisor or Service Center Manager to ensure workflow is maintained and projects are completed on time
  • Promote safety awareness and safe operation equipment amongst the team
  • Maintain reliable, regular, and predictable attendance
  • Adhere to Aero Air policies and standards of conduct
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the department supervisor
