Job Description
The University of Tennessee, Knoxville (UTK) is the state's flagship university renowned for its commitment to excellence in education, research, and community engagement. Classified as a Carnegie Research 1 institution, UTK serves over 35,000 students, including more than 6,000 graduate and professional students, on its vibrant Knoxville campus. As a land-grant institution grounded in the spirit of Volunteerism, UTK emphasizes serving the state and nation through academic excellence, outreach programs, and inclusive community-building. Recognized by Forbes as one of America’s best large employers in 2026, the university prides itself on fostering a progressive and inclusive atmosphere where diversity and accessibility in higher education are paramount.
The Office of the Visitors Center at UTK plays a critical role in advancing the institution's mission by supporting enrollment management through recruitment events and academic enrichment programs. The university is currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced Coordinator of Events and Pre-College Programs on a Limited Duration Appointment (LDA) basis. This dynamic position is vital in planning, coordinating, and executing a wide range of recruitment events and pre-college programming designed to attract and engage prospective students and their families. The role requires a collaborative approach, working closely with departmental leadership to enhance the accessibility of higher education and to foster a diverse and inclusive academic environment.
The Coordinator of Events and Pre-College Programs will be entrusted with delivering high-quality experiences both on and off campus, supporting key recruitment efforts across Tennessee and beyond. This position ensures that recruitment events and pre-college programs reflect the university's commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion while improving the recruitment and graduation rates of students. The role entails managing logistics, liaising with multiple university departments, and coordinating volunteers and staff to create welcoming, informative, and engaging events for attendees.
With a minimum starting salary of $44,577, this position offers a hybrid schedule combining on-campus responsibilities with remote work opportunities, providing flexibility to the selected candidate. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, the ability to multitask, excellent communication, and interpersonal abilities, alongside proficiency with Microsoft Office applications. Candidates should have at least two years of experience in student employment related to guest relations or tours, and a Bachelor’s degree, or be a current student nearing graduation. This role is an opportunity to influence the future of the university by directly contributing to the recruitment and success of diverse student populations through innovative event planning and program coordination.
In addition to a competitive salary, the LDA Coordinator will benefit from the University of Tennessee's comprehensive benefits package, including generous paid leave, flexible work arrangements, and robust health insurance options. This position represents an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about education, student engagement, and community outreach to join a leading academic institution dedicated to enriching student experiences and fostering inclusivity at all levels of university life.
