The University of Tennessee, Knoxville (UTK) is a renowned flagship public research university with a rich history dating back to its founding in 1794. With over 38,000 students and 10,000 statewide employees, UTK has established itself as a hub of leadership, innovation, and service. Recognized by Forbes as one of America’s best large employers for 2026, the university offers a robust and diverse academic environment, supporting students and faculty through 14 degree-granting colleges and schools. As Tennessee's flagship land-grant institution, UTK holds the prestigious Carnegie Research 1 classification, indicating the highest level of research activity. The university’s impact extends beyond its Knoxville campus with collaborative partnerships including the US Department of Energy’s Oak Ridge National Laboratory and various statewide institutes such as the Institute of Agriculture and the Space Institute.

The University of Tennessee values its employees as its most important asset, fostering a culture emphasizing work-life balance, professional growth, innovation, and community engagement. UTK provides extensive career development opportunities, training resources, and continued education benefits, aiming to attract and retain top-tier talent. The Volunteer spirit of service and leadership defines this vibrant academic community, which is recognized nationally as the best employer for new graduates, a best workplace for women, and a best place for working parents by notable organizations including Forbes Magazine.

The LDA - Coordinator of Events & Pre-College Programs at UTK plays a critical role within the Office of the Visitors Center and the Enrollment Management Division. This position involves supporting the planning, coordination, and execution of recruitment events and academic enrichment programs for prospective students, families, and pre-college program participants. As a Limited Duration Appointment (LDA), this role offers an on-campus position with some hybrid and remote work flexibility. The coordinator works closely with department leadership to deliver exceptional on-campus and off-campus experiences designed to enhance student recruitment and engagement. The position is central to advancing UTK’s enrollment goals by managing signature events, statewide outreach, and academic programs that foster student diversity, inclusion, and accessibility to higher education.

The role demands excellent organizational skills, customer service, and communication abilities to effectively interact with faculty, staff, administrators, students, and the wider community. Candidates for this position are expected to bring a high level of personal initiative, teamwork, and problem-solving capability. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, strong grammar and proofreading skills, and the ability to function effectively in a dynamic and fast-paced environment are essential. Candidates who have experience working with diverse populations, tours, or ambassador programs, and those with presentation skills will find themselves well-suited to contribute to this vital recruitment and engagement effort.

UTK offers a competitive minimum starting salary of $44,577 for this position, with final compensation depending on the candidate’s qualifications and experience.
