The Layout Inspector role is based within the Industrial Gas Turbine (IGT) group located in Hampton, Virginia. This position is vital for ensuring that all castings, wax patterns, customer tooling, and precision measurement instruments conform strictly to blueprints and customer specifications. Integral to the manufacturing process, the Layout Inspector uses advanced coordinate measurement machines (CMM) and dimensional analysis software to measure and analyze parts accurately. The role requires candidates to complete rigorous daily calibrations and repairs of customer gauges and to run and correlate CMM programs with manual inspection results to maintain the highest quality standards. The Layout Inspector must be proficient with various software packages including FLB, OFI, Autoscan, Fanamation, AutoCAD, and Valysis, and must apply a thorough understanding of blueprint interpretation, geometric tolerancing, and trigonometry to their daily tasks. Responsible also for troubleshooting and maintaining CMM equipment, this position plays a central role in supporting production goals and ISO-quality compliance. The working hours for this role are 2nd shift, Monday through Friday from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m., with an initial training period on the 1st shift. The starting pay rate for new hires is $25.31 per hour, increasing to $28.13 after six months, with an additional $1.00 per hour shift premium for off-shift work.
