Job Description
The Law Offices of James L. Arrasmith, A.P.C. is a dynamic and fast-growing law firm based in California, committed to providing excellent legal services across a wide range of practice areas including family law, landlord-tenant disputes, civil litigation, estate planning, real estate, bankruptcy, personal injury, civil rights, appeals, and tribal law. Known for moving quickly while maintaining a high standard of professionalism, the firm emphasizes genuine care and personalized attention for every client. This well-established practice prides itself on fostering a supportive and collaborative environment, both internally among the team and externally with clients who are often facing significant personal challenges.
As a Receptionist at The Law Offices of James L. Arrasmith, A.P.C., you will serve as the vital front door of the practice, representing the firm's warmth and professionalism to every caller and visitor. This position is not just about answering phones; it is about making each person feel heard and valued at a time when they may be dealing with some of the most difficult situations in their lives, such as custody battles, evictions, or the loss of a loved one. You will be the calm, organized, and empathetic presence who skillfully routes calls, manages appointments, and ensures smooth communication throughout the firm.
Your role is essential in maintaining the firm's high standards for client care and internal efficiency. You will answer and route all incoming calls with friendliness and professionalism, greet prospective clients and assist with scheduling consultations, and coordinate calendars among attorneys and staff. You'll also manage the firm's main phone line, voicemail, emails, and Slack messages, ensuring no communication is overlooked. Additionally, your responsibilities include maintaining accurate client records within the case management system and providing administrative support wherever needed.
This position requires exceptional organizational skills and follow-through, grace under pressure, and genuine empathy for people in stressful situations. Candidates should be comfortable working independently in a remote environment while staying closely connected with the team. Solid computer skills and the ability to quickly learn new software are essential, as you will be working with a modern, cloud-based technology stack that includes OpenPhone, Slack, PracticePanther, Adobe Sign, Dropbox, and Otter.ai. Prior experience in reception, front-desk, customer service, or a legal office is an advantage, but the right attitude and instincts are paramount.
Working hours are Monday to Friday, from 8 AM to 5 PM, with occasional overtime as needed. Reliable transportation is required. The base pay range for this role is $18 to $22 per hour. This role offers meaningful work in a supportive, fast-expanding firm that values growth, collaboration, and making a real difference for clients.
