Job Description

The position of Laundry Supervisor is an essential role within the Rail Events Production Run Crew based in Perris, CA. This seasonal, non-exempt, hourly role offers compensation at $26 per hour and reports directly to the Production Wardrobe Supervisor and Production Management team. The hiring establishment specializes in creating immersive, memorable theatrical events centered around the historic railroad experience, combining elements of theater production, wardrobe management, and event coordination to deliver a seamless experience for all attendees and participants.

The Laundry Supervisor plays a pivotal role in maintaining the quality and cleanliness of costumes, linens, and other textiles that are integral to the show’s production and overall aesthetic. The role requires working closely with the Production Wardrobe Supervisor, along with other local department supervisors and on-site management during the run of the show. Key responsibilities include overseeing the care of all laundered items ensuring they are washed, dried, and properly stored in accordance with safety and production guidelines.

The role involves hands-on operation of laundry equipment such as washers, dryers, irons, and steamers. The supervisor must also sort items carefully by department, fabric type, color, and washing instructions while performing stain removal and making minor repairs to costumes as needed. Attention to detail is paramount in this position since the quality and presentation of costumes directly impact the visual storytelling and audience experience.

In addition to laundry management, the Laundry Supervisor supports the entire production team by helping with the load-in and organization of wardrobe supplies and coordinating with Catering, Props/Decor, and Front of House departments to meet their laundry needs. The position demands strong communication and organizational skills to efficiently track laundry supplies and collaborate with the production staff during load-outs, ensuring the event space and equipment are returned appropriately.

The work environment is fast-paced, requiring frequent long intervals of walking, standing, bending, and lifting. This role also involves domestic travel as part of supporting the production's location requirements, along with working evenings and weekends in sync with event schedules. The role values self-motivation, teamwork, and a commitment to maintaining an enjoyable and rewarding environment for staff and passengers, fostering shared leadership in collaboration with seasonal employees and interns.

This role offers a great opportunity for candidates with experience as laundry attendants, wardrobe supervisors, or seamstresses/tailors to apply their hands-on skills in a creative theatrical setting. The company encourages individuals with strong DIY repair skills, understanding of fabric care, and stain removal techniques to join their team. The Laundry Supervisor is also expected to demonstrate problem-solving abilities and an aptitude for effectively communicating both orally and in writing.

Benefits include the chance to build valuable connections within the theater and events industry, enrich the holiday experience for all ages, work within an inclusive and supportive team environment, and receive complimentary tickets for friends and family. This setting is ideal for individuals looking to contribute to a vibrant seasonal production while honing their wardrobe management and laundry supervision skills. Overall, this role blends technical expertise in laundry operations with a passion for theatrical productions, making it a unique and fulfilling career opportunity.
