Job Description

NGIS Hawaii is a key player in providing essential services to military and federal facilities in Hawaii, specifically focusing on lodging operations. Situated in the strategic location of Pearl Harbor, this organization is committed to supporting the needs of the community through its comprehensive hospitality services. NGIS Hawaii operates under a federally supported structure, ensuring steady, reliable employment for those it hires. The company is known for its dedication to excellence, reliability, and customer service, helping to maintain the comfort and efficiency of lodging experiences. As a full-time federal employee at NGIS Hawaii, you will gain access to a wide range of benefits including medical and dental insurance, life insurance, short-term and long-term disability insurance, paid annual and sick leave, a matching 401K plan, and a pension plan, among others. This employment opportunity provides not just a job, but a meaningful career path with financial and personal growth opportunities.

The role available is for a Laundry Attendant within the NEXCOM Hospitality Group (NHG), integral to maintaining the quality and availability of linens and laundry services for lodging guests. This position requires the individual to handle a variety of laundry tasks that are crucial for the operational success of NHG's lodging facilities. Duties encompass washing, drying, folding, bundling, wrapping, and issuing linen supplies in line with set guidelines and supervisory instructions. The role demands careful operation of commercial laundry equipment and the proper handling of laundry chemicals to prevent damage to linens. Physical tasks include loading and unloading machines, maintaining the cleanliness and upkeep of the laundry area, and occasionally transporting laundry between facilities. The position also involves maintaining accurate inventory records and promptly reporting any damages or equipment malfunctions, which is vital to sustaining operational standards.

Candidates may also be required to hold a valid state driver’s license to facilitate trips to various lodging locations, enhancing the logistical efficiency of laundry services. Flexibility is key in this role, as attendants may need to assist in housekeeping or public spaces in the event of staff shortages or unexpected situations. Attention to detail, physical stamina, and a commitment to customer privacy and security are essential competencies for this position. Working conditions can sometimes be challenging due to exposure to heat from dryers and presses, possible outdoor tasks, and chemical irritants, making the use of personal protective equipment mandatory. NGIS Hawaii offers a steady full-time schedule of 35+ hours weekly, fostering a reliable work-life balance that supports long-term employment and career advancement. This laundry attendant position suits individuals seeking a physically engaging role within an organized and supportive federal employment environment.
