Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Prior experience in laundry or linen services preferred
- Ability to lift and carry heavy loads
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Ability to work weekend shifts
- Must adhere to hospital safety and hygiene protocols
- Effective communication skills

Job Duties
- Collects all soiled linens throughout the day
- Collects all linens from both the halls and chute rooms to be laundered
- Sorts, weighs and prepares linens for washing
- Washes linens according to policy
- Weighs all linens to assure proper weight for each machine for thorough washing
- Begins the washing process following the program formula for each type of linen
- Washes the patient’s clothing separately
- Delivers washed linens to the dryer side for proper drying
- Reports any problems found in machines, dispensing units or dryers
- Dries all linens completely and removes promptly to prevent unnecessary wrinkling
- Removes linens from washers and fills dryers, being sure not to overload dryers in order to get proper drying
- Assists in folding when dryers are in use
- Delivers blanks to the units daily as needed
- Folds linens throughout the day to prepare daily carts for distribution to units
- Folds all linens according to policy and fills all carts for the next day delivery
- Sorts the patient’s clothes and delivers them to the unit daily
- Folds linens for the night emergency cart and for an afternoon delivery to the units
- Fills all carts based on the par requests from the nursing units
- Assures the proper linens are on the units in a timely manner
- Prepares morning carts for delivery to the units by the porters
- Prepares an afternoon cart for delivery to each unit by either the washer or the dryer staff
- Delivers blankets and spreads per request or as needed
