The Full-Time Language Assistant position at the Reno-Sparks Indian Colony offers a unique and rewarding opportunity to immerse yourself in the rich cultural landscape of this Indigenous community. Reporting to the Education Director and collaborating closely with Language and Culture Coordinators, the Language Assistant plays a pivotal role in advancing language revitalization efforts and the transmission of cultural heritage. You will be responsible for supporting the development and implementation of innovative language and cultural instruction programs that reach all age groups, including elders, youth, parents, and the broader tribal community. Programs take place across diverse settings such as Head Start programs, child care centers, recreation facilities, senior centers, pow wow grounds, youth centers, community centers, and local elementary schools.

This role requires flexibility to accommodate varied schedules, including evenings and weekends, aligning with community events and activities. Your contributions will involve assisting with immersion instruction, lesson planning, and curriculum development in the three languages spoken within the Colony, as well as participating in staff training sessions covering topics like agriculture, arts, healthcare, and cultural conservation. The position offers a competitive hourly wage ranging from $17.65 to $20.00, along with a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, 401(k), life insurance, and paid time off.
