Job Description
Northwest Trek Wildlife Park, located in Washington, is a renowned zoological park dedicated to conservation, education, and recreation. As part of Parks Tacoma, an independent and accredited park district, the Wildlife Park operates on a vast 725-acre property and annually attracts over 200,000 visitors. The park is home to native Northwest wildlife, showcasing natural habitats while promoting awareness and appreciation for wild ecosystems. Operated by Parks Tacoma—the oldest independent park district in Washington—Northwest Trek upholds rigorous standards in animal welfare, conservation, educational programming, and guest engagement, being nationally accredited by the Association of Zoos & Aquariums (AZA). Parks Tacoma itself spans the city of Tacoma and provides numerous parks, trails, recreational centers, and facilities dedicated to enriching community life through safe, inclusive, and sustainable outdoor experiences.
The Lakeside Lodging Concierge role at Northwest Trek Wildlife Park offers a unique opportunity to be at the forefront of guest services within this remarkable natural setting. This part-time position, requiring up to 29 hours per week, serves as the primary on-site host during guests' overnight stays at the park's lodging facilities, such as the A-Frame, Cabin, and Cottage accommodations. The Concierge is responsible for delivering exceptional hospitality by welcoming visitors, facilitating check-in and check-out processes, providing orientation about the park’s amenities, regulations, and wildlife, and ensuring an immersive, memorable experience.
The role goes beyond simple guest relations, calling for a thoughtful blend of hospitality skills, safety oversight, and operational support. The Concierge must work independently and confidently, particularly during overnight hours in a remote, outdoor environment, where monitoring guest safety and facility security is critical. The position involves operational responsibilities such as conducting routine safety checks of lodging facilities and grounds, responding promptly to emergencies or operational issues, and coordinating closely with park leadership and emergency support teams.
Candidates must possess strong communication skills and the ability to remain calm and adaptable during fast-paced or emergency situations. They are expected to anticipate guest needs proactively while fostering an inclusive environment that respects diverse perspectives. The position also includes practical duties like providing shuttle services within the park, working flexible schedules including evenings, weekends, holidays, and occasional extended shifts. Experience in hospitality or guest services, knowledge of wildlife and conservation, and proficiency with basic computer applications are highly favored.
By joining Northwest Trek as a Lakeside Lodging Concierge, staff become ambassadors of the park’s mission to awaken connections to wild life in the Pacific Northwest. The role is integral to creating safe, welcoming, and enriching overnight experiences for visitors, supporting the park’s broader goals of education, conservation, and community engagement. Those who are passionate about the outdoors, wildlife, and guest-centered service will find this role rewarding and impactful, providing both professional growth and the chance to contribute to a beloved regional institution.
