Job Description
Herschend Family Entertainment is a renowned family-owned company that started its journey 75 years ago when the Herschend family discovered the wonder of an Ozark Mountain cave and decided to share that excitement with the world. Today, Herschend Family Entertainment stands as the largest family-held themed attractions company, offering over 40 leading attractions and immersive experiences that captivate audiences globally. The company is rooted in a core mission of Bringing Families Closer Together by Creating Memories Worth Repeating. Herschend's unique blend of hospitality and heart, known as Heartspitality, ensures every guest and employee experiences care, kindness, and exceptional service in every interaction. The company prides itself on fostering an inclusive and respectful environment where everyone—hosts, guests, and partners alike—feels genuinely welcome, valued, and loved.
Lake Compounce, one of Herschend's most beloved properties, is currently seeking enthusiastic individuals to join their team as Maze Hosts/Stagehands for the annual Phantom Fall Fest event. This role offers an exceptional opportunity to be a part of an exciting and unique attraction, playing a vital part in creating a memorable, fun, and safe experience for guests navigating the park's maze attractions. The Maze Host/Stagehand acts as both a safety monitor and a charismatic entertainer, responsible for ensuring visitors enjoy every moment while adhering strictly to safety procedures.
The Maze Host/Stagehand role requires commitment and flexibility with mandatory training dates, group rehearsals, and scheduled performance dates throughout late summer and fall. Candidates will attend orientation sessions, makeup training (for those applying as makeup artists), and multiple rehearsals depending on their house assignment. The role demands a playful, outgoing personality, effective communication skills, and a strong guest-centric attitude. This is an excellent entry-level position for individuals looking to gain customer service experience in a dynamic, high-energy environment without requiring prior work history.
The successful candidate will delight guests with exceptional service, maintain operational safety, assist visitors through the maze efficiently, and ensure all park policies are followed. Physical requirements include the ability to stand and walk for extended periods and to perform moderate physical activities like stooping, bending, and lifting up to 20 pounds. Working conditions are varied with exposure to indoor and outdoor settings, fluctuating temperatures, loud noises, and specialized lighting effects typical of a haunted attraction.
Joining Lake Compounce means becoming part of a fun, energetic community where team members enjoy flexible scheduling, opportunities to cross-train and develop new skills, free admission to all parks on days off, and exclusive company-sponsored events. Whether you're just starting out, seeking extra work, or pursuing a flexible part-time role, this position offers a vibrant workplace where you can make a difference and create lasting memories for park guests and yourself.
