The company is currently seeking a skilled Quality Control Technician to join its dynamic team. This role is integral to ensuring product excellence and operational efficiency within the production and quarry operations. The Quality Control Technician acts as a subject matter expert within the quality department, providing critical technical activities and quality control functions. They are responsible for monitoring production, supporting continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality, and maintaining overall plant efficiency. Key responsibilities include executing quality assurance programs, accurately sampling and testing raw and finished products, and producing detailed reports essential for maintaining quality standards. The position demands proficiency in laboratory maintenance, preventive equipment maintenance, and the creation of standard operating procedures. Flexibility is essential, as the technician will manage diverse tasks independently across both day and night shifts.
This role also requires active participation in safety and environmental compliance audits, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to address quality issues such as product non-conformances and customer complaints. The technician will be expected to lead quality improvement projects, implement 5S methodologies in the laboratory, and mentor colleagues on quality-related matters. Knowledge of regulatory standards like MSHA, SQF, and ISO 9001, along with working proficiency in Microsoft Office and Quality Management Systems, are key to success in this role.

Job Requirements
- high school diploma or ged equivalent
- minimum of one year of quality or laboratory experience
- physical ability to access all plant locations including heights and confined spaces
- ability to lift or carry 50 pounds
- flexibility to work day or night shifts all year round
- strong commitment to safety and regulatory compliance
- proficiency with computer applications including microsoft office
- capability to perform minor equipment repairs and preventive maintenance
- excellent communication abilities
- teamwork and coaching skills
- self-motivated and able to work independently
Job Qualifications
- high school diploma or ged equivalent
- minimum of one year of quality or laboratory experience
- knowledge of quality management systems
- proficiency in microsoft office including excel, word, powerpoint and databases

- critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- familiarity with manufacturing or mining processes in related mineral industry is a plus
- experience working with quality systems such as sqf and iso 9001 is preferred

Job Duties
- ensure a safe workplace and regulatory compliance with safety policies
- support environmental, health and safety initiatives
- participate in audits for regulatory, quality, safety and environmental compliance
- maintain quality assurance programs
- accurately sample and measure chemical and physical properties of products
- document, interpret and communicate analysis to maintain product quality
- provide guidelines to operations for consistent product quality
- prepare charts and review data for further analysis
- support customer complaints process and document findings
- report product non-conformances with analysis
- identify and lead quality improvement initiatives
- implement and sustain 5S in the laboratory
- communicate quality findings with team members and management
- coach on quality matters
- assist with tasks in other departments
- maintain chemical solutions and laboratory instruments
- maintain laboratory supplies and inventory
- perform minor repairs and preventive maintenance on lab equipment
- supervise on-site contractors when requested
- communicate needed repairs and replacements
- maintain and calibrate plant monitoring equipment
- utilize Microsoft Office for data management
- create SOPs for laboratory tasks and equipment
- ensure SQF workplace compliance and support SQF initiatives
- promote employee safety and SQF culture
