The Professional Services Industries, Inc. (Intertek-PSI) division, based in Jackson, Mississippi, specializes in construction assurance, testing, and inspection services for civil and commercial construction projects. The Construction Services Laboratory Technician I position offers an exceptional opportunity to grow a versatile career within the A/E/C sector. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing a variety of testing activities, project-specific observations, and site assessments under close supervision or following controlled procedures. The role involves hands-on operation of testing equipment to analyze materials such as soil and concrete, interpreting data to assist in maintaining quality standards on construction sites. This position requires a willingness to travel locally to project sites, including locations such as St. Joseph, Louisiana.
In addition to the technical responsibilities, the Laboratory Technician I will utilize construction drawings, specifications, and diagrams to perform detailed site activity observations, create precise documentation, and compile data from testing outcomes. The job demands physical capability to handle materials and work outdoors in varying weather conditions, with occasional tasks involving lifting heavy weights, kneeling, squatting, climbing, and standing for extended durations.

Job Requirements
- 1 year experience in construction materials testing laboratory
- must be able to work off shift and overtime as needed
- ability to lift, move, push and pull 30 to 50 pounds frequently
- occasionally, over 50 pounds with assistance
- ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, (hearing) and to make the discriminations in sound
- ability to kneel and squat occasionally
- ability to walk and stand for long periods of time
- ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions, including hot and cold temperatures
- ability to climb occasionally, and work at various heights
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- 1 year experience in construction materials testing laboratory
- ACI certification preferred
- NICET certification preferred
Job Duties
- Operate testing equipment and conduct testing (example: soil, concrete or other) and provide assessment of data through reporting
- utilize drawings, specifications, and diagrams
- use specific methods and perform tasks to make detailed observations of site activities and give limited interpretation of results
- maintain detailed documentation and data from test results
