Job Description
Our organization is a reputable healthcare provider operating in Sun City, Arizona, with a dedicated Lab-Boswell department. We pride ourselves on delivering high-quality laboratory services with a commitment to excellence and compliance with all relevant regulatory and accreditation standards. We foster an environment where professionals can find their voice, passion, and purpose, contributing meaningfully to patient care through expert laboratory testing and diagnostics. Our work shift for this position is during the day, and we offer competitive base pay rates starting at $33.33 per hour, emphasizing our commitment to attracting skilled and motivated individuals. This employment opportunity falls under the lab job category and highlights a technical coordinator role, essential to our laboratory operations and service quality.
The Technical Coordinator position at our Lab-Boswell department requires advanced technical knowledge and seasoned skills in laboratory testing, clinical relevance interpretation, and complex problem-solving. This role is pivotal in ensuring that our laboratory complies with all applicable accrediting agencies and regulatory requirements, including but not limited to CLIA '88, JCAHO, CAP, and OSHA. The Technical Coordinator will perform all functions under established policies, procedures, and professional standards, serving as a vital resource within the department.
In this role, the Technical Coordinator is expected to perform the duties of a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) at a high competency level, providing operational leadership and overseeing workflow for their section or shift. They integrate comprehensive technical expertise with clinical relevance continuously, addressing complex technical, computer, interdepartmental, and quality issues efficiently. Reporting to the Supervisor or Technical Director, they assist in implementing technical system initiatives, supervise in the absence of section leadership, and contribute to scheduling and workflow management.
Quality is a central focus of this role, requiring meticulous review of records, validating quality control and assurance procedures, and maintaining documentation in line with accrediting and licensing standards. The Technical Coordinator collaborates closely with supervisors, administrative and technical directors, and quality specialists to implement new quality control policies and continuous improvement programs. They also take an active part in the department's quality assurance activities and preparations for on-site accreditation reviews.
Financial performance and operational efficiency are additional areas of responsibility. The coordinator will monitor department costs, productivity, and service improvements while managing inventory and contributing to cost analysis efforts. They also play a significant role in personnel oversight by participating in staff selection, training, development, coaching, and competency assessments. New employee orientation and competence verification are part of their duties to ensure a knowledgeable and skilled workforce.
Communication and teamwork are crucial in this position, as the Technical Coordinator acts as a liaison for on-site and system issues, working collaboratively with management and co-workers to foster a service-oriented environment. They also demonstrate preceptor and coaching skills, promote constructive learning environments, and utilize excellent verbal and written communication abilities. The role involves active participation in special projects, aiming to enhance departmental operations and contribute to the broader health system's goals.
Overall, this position offers a challenging yet rewarding opportunity for professionals in the medical laboratory field to advance their careers, work within a supportive team, and make a meaningful impact on healthcare delivery through expert laboratory services.
