Job Description
IEH Laboratories is a leading company in the field of food safety, known for providing top-notch testing services that ensure the quality and safety of food products. Located in Salinas, California, IEH Laboratories operates as a specialized laboratory focused on delivering meticulous and reliable food safety testing. The laboratory is committed to helping its clients maintain high standards of safety in food production and distribution through advanced laboratory analysis, innovative testing technologies, and expert scientific consultation. As a leader in the food safety industry, IEH Laboratories maintains a strong reputation for accuracy, dependability, and regulatory compliance in all of its testing services.
The Laboratory Courier/Lab Aid position at IEH Laboratories plays a vital role in supporting the company’s mission to promote food safety and quality assurance. This full-time position offers a competitive hourly wage ranging from $16.90 to $17.50, along with a $2 night shift differential, making it a rewarding opportunity for candidates who are organized, dedicated, and detail-oriented. The role primarily involves safely transporting laboratory samples from customer locations to the lab on a fixed schedule, ensuring the integrity and timely delivery of critical specimens essential for food safety analysis. In addition to sample transportation, the Laboratory Courier/Lab Aid will be responsible for assisting with general laboratory cleaning and performing other duties as assigned to help maintain an efficient and sanitary lab environment.
An important aspect of this role is the flexibility required in shift work. After initial training, which occurs during the daytime hours of 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, employees will be expected to rotate between afternoon shifts (3:30 PM to 12:00 AM) and night shifts (11:30 PM to 8:00 AM). The laboratory operates continuously 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, so the candidate must be willing to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed. The position requires physical capability to lift weights up to 50 pounds occasionally and up to 30 pounds regularly, as well as a valid US driver’s license with a clean driving record that meets ongoing motor vehicle risk standards. Candidates with moderate-to-severe food allergies are advised not to apply due to potential exposure to various food allergens within the lab environment.
IEH Laboratories provides a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life/AD&D insurance, both long-term and short-term disability insurance, 401(k) retirement plans, health and dependent care flexible spending accounts, an employee assistance program, paid time off for sick leave and vacation, paid bereavement leave, and recognized holidays. This position offers a strong pathway for those looking to build a career in the food safety industry, where accuracy, reliability, and safety are paramount. The company emphasizes equal opportunity employment and encourages veterans and individuals with disabilities to apply, fostering a respectful and inclusive workplace culture.
