Job Description
IEH Laboratories is a recognized leader in food safety, providing comprehensive laboratory testing and analysis services to ensure the quality and safety of food products. Situated in Salinas, California, IEH Laboratories focuses on serving agricultural and food industries with precision and reliability. The company operates around the clock with advanced laboratory facilities designed to meet rigorous food safety standards. IEH Laboratories prides itself on maintaining a safe, inclusive, and professional work environment where employees are encouraged to grow and contribute to the mission of food safety and public health.
The Laboratory Courier/Lab Aid position at IEH Laboratories plays a critical role in the daily operations of the lab. This full-time role is based at the Salinas facility and is vital in ensuring the prompt, safe, and efficient transportation of customer samples to the laboratory for analysis on a fixed schedule. The position also involves general laboratory support duties such as cleaning and various other tasks assigned by management. This role requires a dependable individual with strong attention to detail, the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment, and excellent communication skills. The physical demands include the ability to lift weights occasionally up to 50 pounds above waist level and regularly up to 30 pounds.
Training for this role occurs during the day shift from 8:30 am to 5 pm, but the candidate must be flexible to work rotating shifts including afternoons (3:30 pm to 12:00 am) and nights (11:30 pm to 8:00 am) to support the laboratory's 24/7 operation schedule. The job requires a valid US driver’s license with a clean driving record verified through ongoing motor vehicle record monitoring. This ensures safety and complies with the company's risk standards. Candidates with moderate-to-severe food allergies are discouraged from applying due to exposure risks in the laboratory environment. The position offers competitive hourly pay ranging from $16.90 to $17.50, with an additional $2 night shift differential.
IEH Laboratories supports its employees with an excellent benefits package after a brief waiting period, including medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance coverage; a 401(k) retirement plan; health and dependent care Flexible Spending Account (FSA) plans; an employee assistance program; paid time off including sick leave, vacation, paid bereavement leave, and paid holidays. This comprehensive benefits offering reflects IEH Laboratories’ commitment to employee well-being and professional satisfaction. Potential candidates will find meaningful work that contributes directly to food safety while enjoying a supportive workplace and competitive compensation.
