The Laboratory Analyst - Rotational Night Shift position at IEH Laboratories in Salinas offers an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about food safety and laboratory science. This full-time role involves working in a fast-paced, 24/7 laboratory environment where attention to detail and precision are crucial. The position pays $21.00 per hour, with an additional $2.00 night shift differential, recognizing the importance of off-hour shifts. While initial training occurs during regular day shifts, the role requires flexibility to work rotating shifts, including afternoons, nights, weekends, and holidays. Candidates must be willing to adapt to this schedule, as the laboratory's continuous operation is vital to client needs and timely reporting.

The core responsibilities of the Laboratory Analyst include analyzing food samples for pathogens using advanced techniques such as PCR and immunoassay. The analyst also performs various microbial enumerations, records data meticulously, and prepares Laboratory reports that meet stringent quality control standards. In addition to testing duties, the role involves media preparation and other lab-related tasks as assigned. This position demands a strong understanding of aseptic techniques to prevent contamination and ensure the highest quality results. Effective communication skills are essential for documenting findings accurately and collaborating with team members to maintain laboratory workflow and safety standards.

IEH Laboratories highly values candidates with a Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree in biological sciences or a related field, emphasizing scientific knowledge and laboratory proficiency. Successful applicants should be comfortable handling multiple tasks simultaneously without compromising accuracy or efficiency. Proficiency in data entry and computer software applications is necessary to support laboratory information management systems. The company also encourages employees to be detail-oriented and possess strong written and verbal communication skills, vital for maintaining clear and precise lab documentation and interactions with peers and supervisors.

Benefits include comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance plans, life and AD&D insurance, long- and short-term disability coverage, flexible spending accounts for healthcare and dependent care expenses, an employee assistance program, paid time off for vacation and sick leave, paid holidays, and a 401(k) retirement plan with employer matching after eligibility requirements are met. IEH Laboratories fosters an inclusive and equal opportunity workplace and encourages veterans and individuals with disabilities to apply.
