As a General Finishes Lab Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting the technical activities essential to professional engineering and scientific projects at PPG. This position is based at the Oak Creek, WI facility and reports directly to the General Finishes Team Lead. The role requires a highly skilled and experienced lab technician able to work independently or collaboratively with chemists, engineers, and project leaders. Your responsibilities will involve the planning, construction, testing, and documentation of experiments related to liquid coating products, ensuring that tests align with customer specifications and industry standards.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate proficiency in hands-on benchwork with complex equipment and possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills. You will be expected to operate with minimal supervision, managing your experiments from initial planning to execution after consulting with your supervisor. This autonomy requires you to be resourceful, detail-oriented, and proactive in seeking additional assignments and areas for improvement.

Key duties include preparing and applying liquid coatings, testing products against various specifications, observing results, and identifying potential root causes of any anomalies. You will need to adapt smoothly between projects, building upon previous experience to increase efficiency and contribute to internal presentations.
