Job Description
The hiring company is a well-established winery dedicated to producing high-quality wines through meticulous winemaking processes and innovative production methods. Known for its commitment to excellence, sustainable practices, and a collaborative work environment, this winery has built a reputation for crafting award-winning wines enjoyed by connoisseurs and casual drinkers alike. The company values precision, technical expertise, and teamwork, making it a great place for professionals passionate about the art and science of winemaking to thrive.
This role as a Lab Technician I is integral to supporting the winery's production and winemaking teams by performing routine laboratory analyses and quality control tasks. Reporting directly to the Winemaker and working closely under the supervision of the Enologist and Assistant Winemaker, the Lab Technician I plays a key role in ensuring product quality and compliance with industry standards. This position requires a strong foundation in analytical techniques, the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced production setting, and a detail-oriented approach to laboratory work.
In this role, the Lab Technician I will be responsible for performing routine quality control and assurance analyses, collecting and preparing samples for sensory and chemical evaluation, and maintaining accurate records using laboratory software and tracking systems. Additionally, the technician will operate and calibrate laboratory instruments, prepare chemicals and solutions safely, and maintain a clean and compliant laboratory environment. The role also involves collaboration with various production departments, active participation in bench-top trials and standardizations, and consistent adherence to safety protocols.
Given the dynamic nature of winemaking production cycles, the candidate must be flexible with scheduling, capable of occasionally working weekends, evenings, and seasonal overtime, but will not be required to travel overnight. This full-time position offers an opportunity to develop professional skills within a specialized industry, gain exposure to advanced winemaking software, and contribute meaningfully to a high-caliber production team. The ideal candidate will have prior academic or professional laboratory experience, preferably with a focus on wine or food analysis, combined with strong communication, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
This position promises a challenging yet rewarding environment where attention to detail and a proactive work ethic are essential. The Lab Technician I will have access to personal protective equipment (PPE) and work in a combination of indoor and outdoor environments, ensuring safety and adaptability are always prioritized. Overall, the role is a vital component of the winery's mission to deliver exceptional quality products while supporting continuous improvement and operational excellence throughout the production cycle.
