The opportunity for a full-time Laboratory Support Technician located in Shreveport, Louisiana, presents a dynamic role for individuals passionate about patient care and clinical laboratory operations. Working the 2nd shift, this position is essential in ensuring that patient specimens are handled with care and precision throughout the processing cycle. The Laboratory Support Technician fulfills a hybrid role of lab assistant and courier, responsible not only for preparing and processing laboratory specimens but also for safely transporting samples and supplies between healthcare provider sites and laboratory facilities. Job Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • A valid driver's license and an excellent driving record for the past three years
  • Confidence operating a vehicle in all weather and traffic conditions and navigating routine hazards of the road
  • Ability to operate general laboratory equipment including telephones, computers, centrifuges, and audible alarms
  • Physical capability of light to medium lifting up to 50 lbs

Job Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Confidence operating a vehicle in all weather and traffic conditions and navigating routine hazards of the road
  • Ability to operate general laboratory equipment including telephones, computers, centrifuges, and audible alarms
  • Physical capability of light to medium lifting up to 50 lbs
  • 1 - 2 years of related experience in clinical laboratory, data entry, or production

Job Duties

  • Perform a vital part of the patient care process by making sure laboratory specimens are properly processed, prepared, routed, and transported between the laboratory and healthcare provider locations
  • Fulfill a hybrid lab assistant role that includes courier duties, preparing supply orders, and ensuring safe operation of a motor vehicle rain or shine
