Job Description

Ochsner Health is a distinguished healthcare organization with a rich history dating back to 1942. Known for its unwavering commitment to serving, healing, leading, educating, and innovating, Ochsner has established itself as a leader in the health services sector. The organization emphasizes the importance of its employees, acknowledging that every accolade, milestone, and patient success is a direct result of the dedication and hard work of its staff. As a comprehensive healthcare provider, Ochsner supports a wide range of services and facilities, making it a dynamic and impactful place of employment for those passionate about making a difference in patient care and community health.

The role available is pivotal within the patient and cafeteria food services team, offering an essential contribution to patient well-being and satisfaction. This position involves a variety of responsibilities, including preparing and portioning food, setting up stations, serving and replenishing food throughout meal periods, and breaking down stations after meal service. Additionally, the role supports dish room duties and backup functions across all cafeteria and tray line positions. This multifaceted position requires adherence to strict food production policies, hygiene standards, and operational guidelines to ensure safe and quality food service delivery.

Moreover, this role demands a proactive approach to maintaining sanitation by cleaning and sanitizing workstations, counters, steam tables, and equipment regularly. Delivery and retrieval of patient trays, monitoring and logging dietary orders, and managing food supplies through ordering and stocking further emphasize the operational scope of this position. Candidates will engage in ongoing professional development and participate actively in quality improvement and patient satisfaction initiatives.

To succeed, individuals must be proficient in basic computer skills, especially for data entry and managing patient information, with familiarity in Windows applications considered essential. Effective verbal and written communication abilities are crucial for clear, professional interactions across varying levels of patient care processes. Familiarity with special diets, food safety practices, and the ability to follow menus and production sheets play important roles in the daily functions of this position. The role also entails physical demands such as lifting, standing for long periods, stooping, bending, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment requiring constant attention to safety and sanitation.

Ochsner Health fosters an inclusive and supportive workplace, committing to compliance with laws, regulations, and ethical standards that promote patient safety, privacy, and quality care. Employment here signifies joining a team that values diversity, equal opportunity, and the importance of each person’s contribution. This position is on-site and requires the ability to move throughout the facilities and adapt to various environments while maintaining the highest standards of food service and patient interaction.
