The role in question is for a Kitchen Team Member who acts as a guardian of the kitchen operations and champions the Operational Excellence pillar within the Creating Raving Fans Strategy at the Back of House. This is a critical position responsible for fostering a unified kitchen team, ensuring all food products meet Chick-fil-A's stringent quality standards, and managing kitchen processes with cost control in mind. Working closely with both kitchen staff and leadership, the Kitchen Team Member plays a pivotal role in maintaining smooth and efficient kitchen operations from opening through closing.

As a Kitchen Team Member, the individual is tasked with multiple responsibilities including conducting quality assessments, managing inventory systems, ensuring proper food safety and handling procedures, and supporting appropriate communication and collaboration among team members. This role demands attention to detail and adherence to policies related to food safety, health inspections, and operational standards. By effectively managing the rotation and cooling of chicken products as well as coordinating with the Catering Manager for quality catering services, the Kitchen Team Member helps uphold the restaurant’s reputation for excellence.

Additionally, the role requires ongoing monitoring of food, paper, and labor costs to ensure profitability while promoting a culture of continuous improvement within the kitchen. The Kitchen Team Member is also responsible for implementing necessary changes based on health inspections and regulatory guidelines such as the HACCP Plan for handling chemicals and hazardous substances. To excel in this position, the candidate will need to be proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of communicating improvement ideas to the restaurant operator.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior experience in a restaurant or fast food kitchen preferred
  • Ability to communicate clearly and work well in a team
  • Basic understanding of food safety and sanitation practices
  • Competency in handling inventory and quality control procedures
  • Ability to follow detailed procedures and operational standards
  • Willingness to learn and complete training programs
  • Physical capability to perform kitchen tasks
  • Availability to work flexible hours

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in fast food or restaurant kitchen environment preferred
  • Ability to follow safety and sanitation guidelines
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Basic knowledge of food safety standards
  • Ability to manage inventory and conduct quality assessments
  • Certification in TMDP modules or willingness to obtain
  • Positive attitude towards continuous improvement and learning

Job Duties

  • Communicate effectively and timely with kitchen staff and leadership
  • Conduct RQAs as requested
  • Ensure kitchen/restaurant is opened/closed properly
  • Manage chicken rotation including chicken tracking system
  • Manage chicken cool down process
  • Assist with CFA Anywhere orders and collaborate with Catering Manager to ensure quality catering
  • Follow all policies and Quality/Standards
  • Follow Restaurant Vendor check-in policy
  • Adhere to holding times and use timers for all food products
  • Responsible for taking temperatures of each product each shift in addition to RQA
  • Follow RQA program daily
  • Check temperatures of freezer and refrigerators regularly during shifts
  • Implement necessary changes from health inspection reports and ROE
  • Use the KIV and all inventory management processes
  • Understand HACCP Plan for chemicals and hazardous substances
  • Make sure Quality Photos, recipe cards, CFAA cards & Sampling cards are used at all times
  • Ensure profitability by monitoring costs: food cost, paper cost, labor cost
  • Create culture of continuous improvement in kitchen (no shortcuts)
  • Communicate operational improvement ideas to Operator
