The Kitchen Team Member role at The Blue Porch is integral to the restaurant’s operational success, focusing primarily on back-of-house duties that ensure the preparation and delivery of top-notch food. The Kitchen Team Member is responsible for preparing menu items in accordance with detailed recipes and execution standards that uphold the restaurant's quality benchmarks. Responsibilities include coordinating with other kitchen stations to synchronize cooking times so that all components of an order are ready simultaneously, guaranteeing that guests receive their meals promptly and accurately.
In addition to cooking responsibilities, the Kitchen Team Member performs essential cleaning and organizational duties that maintain the kitchen’s hygiene and safety. This includes managing walk-in coolers, cleaning food production areas, washing dishes, and ensuring that all food and cleaning chemicals are stored safely according to industry standards such as HACCP and OSHA. The role also supports receiving deliveries and correctly storing supplies, contributing to an efficient workflow and minimal disruptions during service hours.

Job Requirements

Job Duties
- Responsible for meeting the restaurant’s standards and cooking recipes to exact specifications
- prepares and produces menu items in various kitchen stations, meeting all established kitchen standards and recipe specifications to provide high quality and well executed food for guests
- communicates timing with other stations to ensure all items are ready at the same time for each order
- cleans and organizes walk-in coolers, food production areas, equipment, and general kitchen areas
- washes dishes as needed and according to established practices and procedures ensuring safety and sanitary standards are met
- assembles and expedites accurate and complete orders for the Service Team
- properly and safely stores food and chemicals in accordance with Meritage, HACCP, OSHA, and sanitation guidelines
- organizes food production by assisting in hanging tickets for fellow Kitchen Team Members
- assists in receiving and putting away deliveries
- completes all required training for the role
- trains new Kitchen Team Members as directed by the leadership team
- other duties as assigned
