Job Description
Panda Restaurant Group, Inc. is a renowned family-owned American Chinese restaurant concept founded in Glendale, California, in 1983. It has grown to become the largest of its kind in the United States, with nearly 2,800 locations worldwide. The company prides itself on delivering exceptional Asian dining experiences and has built a reputation around strong family values and a commitment to positively impacting both its team members and the communities it serves. Panda Restaurant Group fosters an inclusive and diverse workplace where equal opportunity is paramount, embracing people from all walks of life without discrimination based on gender, race, religion, disability, or any other protected characteristic. This dedication to equality ensures a welcoming environment for all employees and applicants.
The Kitchen Team Associate role at Panda is designed for friendly, motivated individuals who thrive in a fast-paced, supportive team environment. This position offers employees a chance to be part of a dynamic kitchen team where they will prepare and serve high-quality food while maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and food safety. Whether candidates come with prior experience or not, Panda Restaurant Group provides comprehensive hands-on training to set all employees up for success. The role is versatile, with associates rotating through different positions such as the front counter, drive-through, or kitchen to keep work engaging and provide valuable cross-training opportunities.
As a Kitchen Team Associate, employees are vital to creating an exceptional guest experience. Responsibilities range from greeting customers, handling food preparation and service, operating the cash register, and ensuring adherence to operational standards and safety procedures. Working efficiently is key in this role, as associates must maintain productivity in a fast-paced environment while working collaboratively with teammates to meet daily goals. Panda offers flexible schedules, competitive pay ranging from $22 to $25 per hour depending on location and experience, and a vibrant culture that values growth, career development, and community involvement through initiatives like Panda Cares.
Employees can expect a physically engaging work environment where standing for long periods, lifting up to 50 pounds, and managing multiple tasks simultaneously is typical. The kitchen areas involve exposure to steam, heat, and noise, but the camaraderie and positive atmosphere make it a rewarding experience. Associates are also encouraged to pursue career advancement opportunities within the company, with ongoing development programs and leadership training available to those interested in management roles.
In addition to compensation, Panda Restaurant Group offers a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, vision, dental insurance, various voluntary insurance options, 401k with company match, paid time off, and associate discounts. This commitment to employee well-being, paired with a mission-driven workplace culture, makes Panda a desirable employer in the restaurant industry.
Joining Panda as a Kitchen Team Associate means becoming part of a team that is passionate about food, people, and community. It is a role that welcomes ambitious individuals eager to gain new skills, work with great teammates, and make a meaningful difference both inside and outside the restaurant. Whether you are starting your career or seeking a supportive team-focused environment, this position offers personal growth, competitive pay, and the chance to build lasting friendships while contributing to an iconic brand.
