Job Description

The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center (ARC) is a distinguished no-fee program dedicated to assisting men and women throughout their journey to successfully complete a comprehensive rehabilitation program. As part of The Salvation Army, a globally recognized humanitarian organization known for its commitment to social welfare and community support, the ARC offers a vital service that supports individuals striving to regain stability and independence in their lives. The ARC’s mission focuses on delivering effective rehabilitation services through a structured program that combines work therapy, counseling, and spiritual guidance. Employees at the ARC are crucial to maintaining the quality and effectiveness of these programs, playing important roles that contribute directly to the success of our participants.

Operating as a nonprofit rehabilitation center, the ARC functions around the principles of compassion, respect, and empowerment, ensuring that clients receive the care and resources they need without financial burden. The dedicated staff and management foster an environment that promotes recovery, personal growth, and skill development, making this center not only a workplace but a community committed to making a positive impact on lives.

The role of Kitchen Supervisor at The Salvation Army ARC is a pivotal position within the organization, aimed at overseeing culinary operations that are essential to daily activities. As a Kitchen Supervisor, you will be entrusted with the critical responsibility of managing the kitchen staff, including program beneficiaries, and ensuring that meals are prepared timely, safely, and in accordance with nutrition standards. This role demands strong leadership, organizational capabilities, and a keen understanding of institutional kitchen management.

You will be responsible for scheduling kitchen workloads, training and supervising personnel on cooking techniques, food safety, sanitation, and equipment maintenance. Your duties include inventory management, ordering food supplies within budget constraints, and collaborating with local suppliers, including the local Food Bank. Maintaining the kitchen's cleanliness and safety standards, overseeing petty cash for food purchases, and supporting menu planning are also integral parts of the role. The Kitchen Supervisor is expected to lead by example, occasionally assisting with cooking and service duties.

This full-time position offers a competitive pay rate of $18.50 per hour with a weekly schedule averaging 37.5 hours. The schedule requires flexibility as the center operates seven days a week including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Employees must be able to adapt to shift variations to maintain zero gaps in kitchen service coverage.

The ARC values employee dedication and offers extensive benefits which include opportunities for career growth, paid time off, a monthly management incentive bonus, and comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance plans. Employees also benefit from wellness program incentives, retirement plans, optional additional benefits such as prepaid legal services, AFLAC, pet insurance, and other unique perks including employee assistance, store discounts, and amusement park access discounts. This array of benefits underscores the organization’s commitment to its workforce’s well-being and professional development.

If you thrive on leadership within a structured yet compassionate environment and are passionate about making a difference through culinary management, the Kitchen Supervisor position at The Salvation Army ARC represents a rewarding career path. Here, your skills not only contribute to outstanding meal service but also empower those on their rehabilitation journey to achieve sustainable, positive life changes.
