Founded in 1981 by Bill Kimpton in San Francisco, this brand challenges the impersonal and generic approach to hospitality by creating environments where authenticity, creativity, and genuine care are at the center of every interaction. With a rich heritage of entrepreneurial spirit and a commitment to diversity, inclusivity, and meaningful work, Kimpton continues to set a high standard in the hospitality industry where employees are empowered to be their unique selves and contribute to making others' lives better.
The role of a Kitchen Manager at Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants is fundamental to maintaining this commitment to exceptional service and quality. This full-time position involves overseeing culinary operations to ensure the delivery of high-quality food, consistency, and reasonable pricing in an attractive and welcoming environment. As a leader in the kitchen, the Kitchen Manager plays a key part in meeting food quality goals, financial objectives, and staff development targets.
The Kitchen Manager is responsible for leading kitchen staff, coordinating food orders, and supervising food preparation to ensure food plating, temperature, and portion sizes meet the brand’s high standards. This role also involves training kitchen staff on preparation techniques and presentation, maintaining food safety and sanitation standards, assisting with scheduling, and promoting health and safety practices in the kitchen. Collaboration with the Restaurant Manager on menu pricing and cost control is critical to the financial success of the restaurant. The Kitchen Manager encourages and supports team member growth, contributing to a dynamic and empowering team environment.
In addition to culinary leadership, this role embodies the Kimpton culture that values diversity, creativity, and self-leadership. Candidates are expected to adapt to a flexible working schedule, including mornings, nights, holidays, and weekends when needed, and be ready to take on varied responsibilities as part of a collaborative team. A Food Handler Certification is preferred to ensure adherence to food safety practices. If you are motivated, organized, and passionate about delivering an exceptional food experience while fostering a positive and diverse work environment, the Kitchen Manager position at Kimpton offers a fulfilling opportunity where you can truly make a difference and thrive alongside a like-minded community.
