This job opportunity is for a Kitchen Supervisor position within the Utah State Developmental Center. This is a full-time, in-office role offering a competitive hourly wage ranging from $19.37 to $28.12. The position involves overseeing food production and ensuring the nutritional needs of approximately 75 people are met with three well-prepared meals each day. In addition to meal preparation, the Kitchen Supervisor is responsible for the management and coordination of weekend freezer meals and holiday meals to maintain consistent service throughout the week. The role requires collaboration with the Foodservice Manager for kitchen equipment procurement, food ordering, menu development, and food delivery to individuals within the institution.
As a supervisory-level position, the Kitchen Supervisor plays a crucial role in managing subordinate personnel, maintaining kitchen organization, cleanliness, and adherence to food safety protocols. They will also be tasked with refining cooking processes to improve time management and kitchen efficiency. This role demands basic knowledge of dietetics and nutrition principles, alongside strong supervisory skills including training and evaluating employee performance. The physical nature of the job requires the individual to be capable of standing for extended periods, lifting moderately heavy items, and maneuvering within a busy kitchen environment.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Cooking experience
- Supervisory experience
- Knowledge of dietetics and nutrition principles
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs
- Successful completion of criminal history background check
Job Qualifications
- Cooking experience and recipe development experience
- Basic knowledge of the principles of dietetics/nutrition
- Experience supervising, training and evaluating employee proficiency and efficiency
- Ability to speak, read and write English and follow written and oral directions
- Food Service Supervisor Certificate or ServSafe Certification preferred
- Advanced knowledge and experience in food preparation, sanitation, inventory rotation, large scale ordering, record keeping, safety, and deep-clean scheduling/tracking preferred
Job Duties
- Supervises subordinate personnel
