Apni Mandi is a prominent Indian food and grocery chain based in the San Francisco Bay area, established in 2018. The privately held company is focused on expanding its footprint beyond San Francisco into other Californian cities and additional states. Presently, Apni Mandi operates four comprehensive stores in the southern Bay area, with plans to open two to four more locations in 2025. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Work authorization to work in the US
  • Experience in Indian food cooking
  • Culinary experience
  • Ability to obtain California Food Handler Card within 30 days
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations
  • Leadership and communication skills

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Resident, citizen, or work authorization in the US required
  • Experience with Indian food cooking is a must
  • Extensive previous culinary experience
  • Certification from culinary school preferred
  • California Food Handler Card preferred or to be obtained within 30 days of joining
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office, restaurant management software, and POS software
  • Advanced knowledge of culinary techniques and recipes
  • Knowledge of Indian cuisine preferred
  • Excellent management and leadership skills

Job Duties

  • Supervise kitchen operations including Indian, Indo-Chinese, snacks, bakery, Panwaari, and sweets
  • Manage checkout, ordering, and receiving of ingredients and raw materials
  • Create and maintain sales and expense budgets
  • Lead the team to provide exceptional customer service
  • Maximize sales through high-quality service
  • Minimize wastage in the kitchen and bakery
  • Motivate and coach kitchen and bakery staff to delight customers
  • Create menus considering budget, customer demands, and seasonality
  • Hire, train, and lead staff for exceptional service
  • Establish goals and key performance indicators
  • Adhere to health and safety regulations
  • Provide sales and productivity reports to management
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal labor, safety, hygiene, and sanitation laws
