Job Description
The Richmond Behavioral Health Authority (RBHA) is a reputable organization dedicated to providing comprehensive behavioral health services within the Richmond community. As an integral part of the regional health system, RBHA focuses on delivering high-quality care designed to support mental health and wellness for individuals and families. The authority operates various facilities, including the North Campus, which hosts a crucial kitchen facility where nutritious, well-prepared meals are provided to clients and staff alike. The RBHA is known for its commitment to community care, maintaining high standards of service, and fostering a supportive environment for both employees and the populations it serves.
RBHA is currently seeking an energetic and dependable full-time Kitchen Supervisor to join the team at the North Campus kitchen. This position involves performing intermediate semiskilled work in preparing, serving meals, and maintaining the kitchen environment. The individual selected will work under moderate supervision of the assigned Food Service Manager, contributing to the smooth and efficient operation of the food service at this critical campus location. The Kitchen Supervisor plays a pivotal role in ensuring food quality, maintaining portion control, staffing coordination, and inventory management.
The role requires the candidate to plan or participate in menu development, supervise kitchen and pantry activities, and help in requisitioning foodstuffs and kitchen supplies. Managing food portions to control costs effectively while ensuring that meals meet established standards for taste and appearance is a key aspect of the position. The Kitchen Supervisor is tasked with coordinating kitchen helpers and cooks, ensuring cleanliness and equipment maintenance, training new workers, and assisting with inventory and storage management. Additionally, there may be opportunities to assist dietitians in modifying and standardizing recipes to enhance meal preparation efficiency.
Besides handling daily kitchen operations, the Kitchen Supervisor may also be involved in staff recruitment activities such as hiring, firing, conducting interviews, and recommending personnel actions. This role plays a collaborative part in catering operations, potentially setting prices for catered food items and engaging with professional staff or clients to address menu concerns or plan special event menus.
This full-time position offers an excellent opportunity for those passionate about culinary supervision within a health care setting, providing a stable work environment within a respected behavioral health authority. Candidates who are organized, detail-oriented, and have experience in kitchen management and food service operations will find this role both challenging and rewarding. Salary details can be discussed during the interview process, and the employment type is full time, providing consistent work hours and the chance to be part of a meaningful mission to enhance community health through quality food service.
