This hourly position starts at $17.50 per hour and requires evening or PM availability. As a Kitchen Cook, the incumbent will be responsible for cooking and seasoning soups, meats, vegetables, desserts, and other food items that meet the hotel's quality standards. The position is hands-on and demands meticulous adherence to sanitation, kitchen safety, and food preparation protocols. The employee will work closely with the Chef and Sous chefs, not only in cooking duties but also in training new hires and maintaining inventory and cleanliness. This is a dynamic role involving setup, breakdown, and cleaning duties, as well as ensuring that all meals, including breakfast, room service, and buffet dinners, are prepared and served promptly and to the hotel's specifications. Alongside culinary functions, this role demands excellent communication skills for both guest interaction and coordination within the kitchen team. Applicants should be ready to perform under pressure in both a la carte and banquet environments and must demonstrate proficiency in knife skills, various cooking methods, and food safety standards. Job Requirements
- must have strong banquet food preparation skills and previous experience in upscale banquet food preparation operations
- must have people skills able to execute praising coaching and counseling procedures professionally
- must have good knowledge and understanding of knife skills sanitation and cooking methods
- prior experience in preparation of food items including line cook experience in an a la carte restaurant required
- must have good knowledge of sanitation codes concerning food storage cross contamination food safe and danger zones
- must know proper cooking methods such as roasting sauteing frying braising
- good sauce knowledge including stocks mother sauces
- must be able to work either cold or hot station in an a la carte or banquet environment
- must be able to set up and break down a station or banquet function in a limited amount of time and work to specific standards
- must be able to identify food products and know which cooking method to apply
- must have pm evening availability
Job Qualifications

- ability to add subtract multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers common fractions and decimals
- ability to solve practical problems and interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written oral diagram or schedule form
- food safety serve safe training certification highly desired
Job Duties
- perform kitchen duties including setup cleaning and break down of kitchen
- assist with ensuring breakfast items are cooked to standards and out on time
- ensure room service orders and club room orders are completed and on time to hotel standards
- ensure dinner buffet is prepared as planned on time and to hotel standards when there is an evening buffet
- assist chef and sous chefs with training of new hires and less experienced cooks and prep cooks
- oversee daily monthly asi temperature logs
- assist chefs with monthly sanitation audits
- break down and store all leftovers of food and equipment that are utilized during your shift
- date identify and label all food for storage in walk in reach in freezer and dry storage
- comply with the clean as you go work policy and daily sanitation projects and checklists
- maintain cleanliness and sanitation of all work surface areas food service areas coolers tables counters and all major appliances in the kitchen
- cook orders as per ticket from server
- handle any special request of guests in a positive manner
- start food items that are prepared ahead of time make sure not to prepare over estimated needs
