OVG is now seeking a dedicated Kitchen Steward to join their team. This part-time role offers an hourly wage ranging from $16.00 to $18.00 and includes benefits such as a 401(k) savings plan with matching contributions. The Kitchen Steward position is instrumental in maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation standards necessary for smooth kitchen operations. Key responsibilities include operating dishwashing equipment, managing waste disposal, polishing silverware, and cleaning kitchen equipment and work areas. Additionally, this role supports general food preparation for events, ensuring that all hygiene and food safety guidelines are diligently followed.

The Kitchen Steward will handle tasks such as restocking supplies, cleaning pots, pans, and trays, adhering to HACCP procedures, and maintaining orderliness in dishwashing areas. The successful candidate must comply with safety and sanitation standards, including sweeping and mopping floors, washing food prep surfaces, managing trash disposal, and assisting with supply transfers. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in a kitchen or dishwashing role preferred
  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Ability to follow health and safety guidelines
  • Ability to handle cleaning chemicals safely
  • Flexibility to work variable shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members

Job Qualifications

  • Ability to work in a team-oriented, fast-paced, event-driven environment
  • Working knowledge of all applicable sanitation requirements
  • Proven ability to understand directions
  • Ability to adapt to production requirements
  • Ability to work a variable work schedule (including evenings, holidays, overnights, and weekends, as required), depending upon event and business requirements
  • Ability to obtain and/or possess a valid SNHD food handling card

Job Duties

  • Assist in inventory management, which includes restocking supplies when necessary
  • Dispose of waste in accordance with waste management procedures
  • Clean all pots and pans along with cleaning and maintaining kitchens and stewarding
  • Follow and maintain knowledge of food safety and hygiene regulations
  • Cleans kitchen equipment and practices all HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) procedures
  • Scrapes and rinses food from dirty dishes and washes them by hand or places them in racks or on a conveyor to the dishwashing machine depending on assigned equipment
  • Ensures complete cleanliness and sanitation
  • Washes pots, pans, and trays based on assigned procedures
  • Polishes silver using a burnishing machine tumbler, chemical dip, buffing wheel, and hand cloth depending on assigned equipment and procedures
  • Ensures compliance with outlined safety procedures
  • Maintains temperatures and chemical levels as outlined by provided standards
  • Keeps dish area orderly and in compliance with safety standards
  • Sweeps and mops kitchen floors to ensure compliance with safety and sanitation standards
  • Washes worktables, walls, refrigerators, meat blocks, and other food prep surfaces
  • Removes trash and places it in designated containers
  • Steam cleans or hoses out garbage cans
  • Transfers supplies and equipment between storage and work areas
  • Helps load and unload supplies and product
  • Performs other duties as assigned
