Job Description

Crown & Anchor is a well-established neighborhood pub that has proudly served its community for over 39 years. Located conveniently for local patrons, this establishment is a beloved watering hole known for its welcoming atmosphere and commitment to quality service. As a small yet tightly-knit team, Crown & Anchor values dedicated employees who are eager to grow and learn within a supportive environment. The company strongly emphasizes a foundational approach, starting all new hires in basic support roles such as food runners or barbacks to develop essential skills. This progression allows motivated individuals to advance quickly, gaining valuable experience and taking on more responsibilities in the kitchen or behind the bar. The pub is open every day of the year from 11 a.m. until 2 a.m. with kitchen service available until midnight. This consistent operating schedule demonstrates the pub's dedication to serving its community reliably, including holidays, and calls for employees who can embrace a flexible work schedule to meet the needs of the business.

Currently, Crown & Anchor is seeking a candidate with at least one year of kitchen experience to fill cook shifts 1-2 times a week. Alongside these cooking shifts, there is an opportunity to supplement hours by working barback or runner shifts, leading to a fuller work schedule of approximately 3-4 shifts weekly. The role of the cook at Crown & Anchor is distinctive in that cooks autonomously manage the kitchen operations, supported by energetic runners and barbacks. This requires an individual who learns quickly over several training shifts and who thrives in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. The pub fosters an atmosphere where employees can pursue upward mobility; high performers may receive cross-training in several areas including bartending, and can ascend through the ranks within a month, reflecting the company’s investment in employee development and strong work ethic.

Employees enjoy flexible scheduling coordinated through an online platform to accommodate diverse personal circumstances such as school or secondary jobs, though the pub retains firm expectations regarding shift attendance. Employees are responsible for scheduled shifts and must be prepared to work late into the night, sometimes until 3 a.m. or later. Holiday work is also expected when major holidays fall on regular workdays, unless coverage is arranged. Beyond compensation, which starts at $16.00 per hour during training and barback/runner shifts, employees also receive 5% of tips earned during their shifts, with higher pay available for cooking roles. The pub also provides several benefits including employee discounts on food and draft beer, paid training, shift meals, and the chance to socialize and relax on days off or after shifts. Crown & Anchor seeks motivated, positive individuals who are looking for long-term growth opportunities and a chance to join a spirited community-focused establishment.
