Job Description

Little People's College is a well-established childcare center founded in 1980 by two former teachers who wanted to create a nurturing, high-quality environment for their youngest children while they returned to work. The institution is dedicated to loving, caring for, and educating children, working closely with parents to ensure each child’s success. The college offers a broad range of support services including financial aid, educational classes, clothing assistance, and holiday gifts, underlining its commitment not only to education but also to the welfare of families it serves.

Little People's College also operates a transportation team that safely shuttles children between home, school, and the center. It collaborates with the Department of Children and Families and various state programs to extend its care to children who need it most, creating an inclusive environment that fosters growth and development for every child. Known for its positive work atmosphere and supportive management, it prides itself on feeling like a family to its staff and students alike.

The role being offered is for a cook who can join their teams located in Mattapoisett and Fairhaven. This part-time position offers a unique opportunity for individuals who love cooking and working with children, contributing to a setting where every day is filled with fun and learning. The position involves preparing meals with a great attitude and being part of a team that puts children’s wellbeing at the forefront. The schedule requires working Monday from 7:00 AM to 2:00 PM and Tuesday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM, ensuring that employees benefit from no weekend work and early shifts finishing by 2 PM daily.

Employees can expect comprehensive on-the-job training and the chance to work additional hours in other roles such as teaching assistant, bus monitor, or van driver, offering diverse experiences and growth opportunities. The starting salary is $16.25 per hour, based on the number of children served. Little People’s College provides an extensive benefits package including health insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, life insurance, paid time off, 401(k) with matching, retirement plans, tuition reimbursement, employee discounts, and a referral program. If you are passionate about cooking and have a love for children, this position is an excellent opportunity to make a lasting impact while growing professionally in a supportive and family-like environment.
