Job Description

Opaa! Food Management, Inc. is a reputable food service management company operating across eight states in the Midwest region of the United States. Known for its dedication to providing nutritious and quality meals, Opaa! Food Management serves various institutional clients, including schools, and emphasizes a commitment to creating positive dining experiences while adhering to rigorous food safety and compliance standards. The company is proud to foster a diverse and inclusive work environment, offering equal employment opportunities without discrimination based on race, color, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, genetics, disability, age, or veteran status. Opaa! values continuous improvement and a passion for serving others, demonstrated through its core values focused on acting in the best interest of the students, schools, and communities it serves.

The Kitchen Team Member role at Opaa! Food Management involves preparing breakfast and/or lunch offerings, assisting with serving lines, and occasionally participating in catering functions. This position requires versatility as team members perform various roles within the kitchen, ensuring food quality, presentation, and safety standards are consistently met. Responsibilities include assisting with the setup and maintenance of serving lines, preparing food following standardized recipes to guarantee consistency and quality, and maintaining cleanliness and organization throughout kitchen and cafeteria areas. The role also involves operating kitchen equipment such as slicers, mixers, grinders, and dishwashers using proper certification. Team members must uphold strict compliance with health, safety, and food service regulations, including the Meal Pattern under the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act (HHFKA) and Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP).

Team members contribute administratively by handling cash registers, managing customer transactions during meal service, and completing daily paperwork such as tray counts and meal reconciliations. Physical demands of the role include frequent standing, walking, lifting objects up to 25 pounds, and occasional exertion of over 60 pounds of force. Working conditions can be challenging, involving exposure to mechanical parts, wet and humid environments, extreme temperatures, and loud noise levels.

Candidates for this role should possess a high school diploma or GED or have equivalent training or experience. Strong communication skills and numerical abilities are required to handle instructions, correspondence, and routine calculations related to portion control and meal counts. Team members must demonstrate dependability, safety awareness, and a customer-oriented attitude aligned with Opaa!'s values. This role offers an opportunity to be part of a dedicated food management team that positively impacts school communities while adhering to health and safety protocols. Pay rates vary depending on state and position, and interested applicants will have an opportunity to discuss compensation details directly with a Hiring Manager upon application.
